Temperature regime
Cucumbers love a steady temperature. At the same time, both air temperature and soil temperature are important for them.
The plant feels good in the temperature range from +18° to +35°C. And the soil temperature should be up to +22° to +25°C.
Fluctuations between night and day temperatures should not be more than 6-8 °. In particular, young plants react poorly to cold.
The optimal temperature for the development of cucumbers
At different phases of development, cucumbers need different indicators of air and soil temperature, since each indicator affects its own characteristics.
During the sowing period
Cucumbers should be sown as soon as the return frosts are gone. In the southern, western and central regions, seeds are sown in an open area in early May. In the north, sowing is done in late spring.
When growing seedlings
In the seedling phase, a lower temperature is suitable, ranging from +20° C to +25° C.
When the temperature drops to + 12 ° C, the sprouts may die. The optimal temperature regime during the germination period should be approximately + 30 ° C, the minimum limit soil temperatures up to +14° C, however, seeds may take too long to germinate in cold soil.
In the active stage of development
Whip growth can be affected by warmer nighttime temperatures. This property is more suitable for growing cucumbers in a greenhouse. Cool nights help increase yields, but delay fruit ripening.
In the fruiting phase
Flowering adult crops and those in the fruiting stage need a temperature of at least + 28 ° C. A hot period (above + 35 ° C) adversely affects plants.
Elevated temperature prevents the normal development of cucumber lashes, while the fruits are deformed, and bitterness appears in the taste.

Cucumbers feel great in an open garden at temperatures from + 20 ° to + 25 ° C. If the soil is warm, then the cultures calmly endure the cooling of the air to about + 10 ° C.

Undesirable temperature regimes for plants:
