Original Makita 18-volt batteries for tools and equipment now cost at least five thousand rubles, while on Aliexpress you can find compatible batteries five times cheaper.

I bought a battery for three Chinese ampere-hours, studied it and measured the capacity.

Battery for Makita for 1100 rubles

Makita has "thin" and "thick" batteries, which cost 5 and 10 cans of 18650, respectively.
The original "thin" Makita BL1815N has a capacity of 1.5 Ah, 3 Ah is declared here (in principle, this is possible, 18650 batteries with a capacity of 3000 mAh exist).

The Chinese battery says "18V 3000mAh 54Wh FOR BL1815".

Compared to the standard Makita BL1830B, it is smaller and lighter at 336g, while the BL1830B weighs 609g.

I charged the battery with a current of 1A using iMAX B6 (ammo1.livejournal.com/374273.html) and measured the capacitance with a device EBD-USB+ in the "0.2C to 2.5V per cell" mode - discharge with a current of 600 mA to 12.5 V. The battery capacity was 1.651 Ah (30.69 Wh).

I charged the battery again and connected it to the Makita DCL181F vacuum cleaner (

ammo1.livejournal.com/1319507.html) via G.T.Power Rc 130A power meter (ammo1.livejournal.com/502657.html).

At the beginning, the power consumption exceeds 110 watts, the current is almost 6 amperes.

The vacuum cleaner worked for 18 minutes (at the end the power dropped to 40 W, the current was about 3 A), while the battery gave 1.757 Ah (31.1 Wh). The slightly larger results compared to the first measurement are most likely due to the low accuracy of this instrument.

The ultra-fast original Makita DC18RC charger charges the battery in less than 10 minutes. At the same time, the battery heats up moderately (the case is about 35 degrees).

I re-discharged the battery with a vacuum cleaner and got a result of 1.219 Ah (21.1 Wh), the vacuum cleaner worked for 14 minutes (yes, you have to “pay” for ultra-fast charging with less capacity).

The battery contains 18650 cells from an unknown manufacturer with the inscription "RH YG18650 0F10C 21OCT 3.6V" ("21OCT" is not the twenty-first of October, but most likely 2100 Chinese milliamp hours).

The board is the most primitive, there is no battery balancing. Although there is a thermal breaker, and thanks for that.

For comparison, this is how the board of the original BL1830B battery looks like.

I bought a battery for 1400 rubles with delivery from Russia here. Then I discovered something like this for 1167 rubles also with free shipping from Russia and also with free returns.

For such a price, this battery can be forgiven for both a smaller capacity (1.65 Ah, not 3), and the lack of balancing (yes, it will live less, but not catastrophically). But it is light and when used with the same vacuum cleaner, weight is often more important than capacity.

The only thing that confuses me is the security issue. I am confident in the safety of original Makita batteries, which I cannot say about this Chinese battery, however, cases of ignition of Chinese 18650 not during charging and without mechanical damage, I have not yet heard, but when charging, you can be alert.
