Phytophthora is the scourge of gardeners. Most often, it develops on nightshade, including tomatoes. Various remedies exist for this fungal disease. For those who do not use chemistry in their garden, there are folk remedies, sometimes no less effective.
What is the danger of phytophthora?
The spores of the fungus quickly disperse in a humid environment that is favorable for the reproduction of the fungus, and can kill all plants. Contribute to this fluctuations in temperature and cold dew in the morning.
By what signs is late blight recognized?
These signs are familiar to me:
- dark brown spots on all parts of the tomato;
- a gray fluffy coating appears on the back of the leaves;
- fruits are deformed.
Compliance with the rules when processing tomatoes with folk remedies
When using any product for the first time, I first spray a few bushes, thereby determining how effective it is. Only after that I proceed to the processing of all landings.
Open field processing
In open ground, tomatoes are less likely to suffer from late blight. The fungus affects them only during prolonged cold snap and rainy weather.
I spray the bushes in the evening in warm and dry weather.
Greenhouse processing
I don't use chemicals in the greenhouse. I use only folk, safe for humans.
Before using the remedy for phytophthora, I inspect the plants and cut off diseased leaves. I spray the bushes 3-4 times with an interval of three days. For the purpose of prevention, I carry out the treatment once every two weeks.
What tools are used to process tomatoes?
It is impossible to get rid of the disease with the help of one drug, as there is a rapid addiction. I use different means, combining them.
Milk serum
I often make cottage cheese myself. After it, the serum remains, which I dilute with water 1: 1. This remedy can be used without any harm as often as necessary.
Yeast
I dissolve one hundred grams of "live" yeast in a bucket of water. I have been using it since the disease of tomatoes.
Infusion of garlic with potassium permanganate
I pour a handful of chopped garlic with a glass of warm water and insist for a day. I filter the infusion, add water to make 10 liters, and add potassium permanganate at the tip of the knife. I treat the plants with this solution once every two weeks.
Horsetail tincture
I pour 100 grams of raw materials with one liter of water and boil for 30 minutes over low heat. I add another five liters of water. I use it for spraying every two weeks.
Salt solution
For the solution, I take a glass of rock salt and a bucket of water. I use this remedy for the prevention of late blight.
Soda
For half a bucket of water, add 1 tbsp. l. soda, 1 tsp. l. liquid soap and 3 tbsp. l. vegetable oil. I use this concentrate once a week.
Milk with iodine
I pour a liter of milk with low fat content into a bucket of water and add 10 drops of iodine. This composition can be used once every two weeks.
Boric acid
1 hour l. I dissolve boric acid and 20 drops of iodine in a bucket of warm water. Processing helps against late blight and promotes fruit set.
Ash
I pour a liter jar of ash into a bucket and add water, I insist for three days. I grate half a bar of laundry soap and dissolve in the same bucket. I use after planting seedlings, during flowering and fruit set.
Kefir
I breed fermented kefir in a bucket of water. Processing is carried out once every two weeks, and if necessary, every week.
Such simple and affordable remedies will help prevent the disease and cure tomatoes if late blight has begun.
