Useful properties of soda

Baking soda is one of the most affordable and environmentally friendly products you can use in your garden. It is inexpensive, effective and safe for plants, crops, pets and humans. After treatment with a soda composition, you do not need to wait, you can harvest and eat it.

Among the main benefits of soda, I highlight:

  • disinfectant properties. Baking soda is an excellent antiseptic. The container can be treated with a solution before planting seedlings. The seeds are soaked in a solution of soda. For these purposes, you can also use a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Soda stops the development of pathogenic flora.

  • Soda perfectly neutralizes acidic soil. I still use chalk, it needs to be ground into powder, sprinkled on the garden bed and dig up the ground.
  • For tomatoes, soda is a real panacea. It stimulates growth and boosts immunity. Processed tomatoes become more resistant to weather changes.
  • Fertilizer protects plants from pests, fungal diseases. Increases the number of ovaries. Tomatoes sprayed with soda bloom more magnificently and bear fruit better.

When and how can baking soda be used?

Soda solution is a mixture of powder and water. Moreover, the concentrated composition is not recommended. Active substances can destroy delicate greens. I use the solution immediately and as directed. It cannot be prepared ahead of time. Recipes:

  1. For seed treatment, I prepare the following composition: I dissolve 2 tablespoons of the powder in two liters of water. In the resulting mixture, I soak the seed material for a day.
  2. After diving and transplanting into separate containers, I treat seedlings with the following composition: 30 grams of soda per 3 liters of water. Spraying can be done with a spray gun.
  3. After transplanting into open ground and applying organic fertilizers, I water the tomatoes with a solution of soda. A pack of powder is needed for a bucket of water. Under each bush you need to pour at least 0.5 liters of solution.
  4. To stimulate the ovary, after the tomatoes have faded, you can water the bushes with a similar solution.
  5. To improve palatability and prevent pest attacks, I spray my tomatoes with baking soda every week. To prepare the solution, you need 200 grams of fertilizer and 5 liters of water.

To prevent diseases and prevent premature yellowing of the green mass, weakly concentrated solutions are suitable.

Baking soda is a great weed killer. If it is not possible to regularly remove weeds, you can treat with a highly concentrated soda solution. A kilogram of powder must be diluted in a bucket of water and sprayed on the grass. Such a composition will dry out unnecessary plants.

Important: for the preparation of solutions you need to use plastic or glassware. Contact with iron may cause a chemical reaction. The solution is best used within the first three hours after preparation.

To obtain a nutrient solution, you need to use settled or purified water. Can be used for drinking.

Before spraying, it is better to strain the composition. Undissolved particles can become clogged, and you will need to clean the holes of the atomizer or sprayer.

I do the treatment in the early morning on a calm day. Soda-based solutions are very effective. But the treatment must be repeated regularly. Natural remedies are easily washed off by precipitation.
