I think many people know that the tree needs to be treated with special compounds. If this is not done, then the material will begin to darken during operation. Unfortunately, the cost of protective compounds is high, and therefore some neglect their use.
If you haven't treated the wood and now it's dark, there are ways to fix this problem.
I note that it is easier to prevent a problem than to eradicate it later. In any case, without processing, the tree will begin to rot after a while, it will become unusable.
But let's move on to ways to remove darkening.
Inexpensive and effective ways
- Method 1. A darkened tree can be painted with liquid glass mixed with dry dye and vermiculite. First, vermiculite is diluted in water, and then combined with paint. The proportions are approximately as follows: vermiculite - 10%, liquid glass - 30%.
The main rule is to cover the wood with a hot mixture, otherwise it will not penetrate deep into the material and will not provide the desired result. The amount of other ingredients is selected depending on the porosity of the tree. Ordinary dyes are not suitable in this case, they do not contain metals. And in dry paint they are.
When liquid glass is combined with metals, it becomes strong, non-combustible, durable.
- Method 2. If the wood is porous, it is covered with clay, which clogs the material. As a result, paint consumption is reduced. Clay must first be soaked in water, and then passed through a fine sieve. Using clay allows you to take less dyes. After a layer of clay, the wood is covered with liquid glass diluted with water. This makes the material shiny.
- Method 3. To return the wood to its original appearance, a porous layer is removed from it. Then the material is treated with lye, which you can make yourself. To do this, you need wood ash (birch ash is suitable). The main thing is that it should be free of impurities. The ash is poured with warm water in a ratio of 1 to 3.
Next, a mixture of ash and water is placed on fire or under the bright sun. Gradually, debris will begin to float to the surface, which must be removed. Then the mixture should be placed in a warm place and wait for the ash to settle.
The liquid remaining on the surface will be lye. It has a yellowish color and an oily texture. The lye will turn out in about a day.
After using the lye, the wood must be additionally treated with a solution of vinegar and citric acid.
- Method 4. Chlorine is used to bleach wood. 2 kilograms of lime are diluted in 10 liters of water. The tree is pre-washed with soda.
- Method 5. Wood treatment is carried out with hydrogen peroxide mixed with ammonia. Keep in mind that peroxide can burn wood, so be careful.
- Method 6. For wood processing, a mixture of lime, liquid glass and copper sulphate is used. You can add color to the composition with the help of pigments. You need to apply the mixture while hot so that it lasts longer on the wood.
Bleached and dried wood should be protected from possible re-darkening. This is done by processing with hot drying oil or linseed oil. In order for the oil to penetrate deeper into the material, it is mixed with turpentine.
To make the wood look more beautiful, it is covered with stain.
