Warm floors have long gained popularity among a large number of owners of private houses and apartments in apartment buildings. Technically, these floors can be divided into two main types. The division occurs according to the type of heating system. In one case, water is used as a heat carrier, and in the other, a special heated wire.

Which warm floor is more efficient and better: water or electric? What are the differences between them and which is better to choose
In a warm floor, the room is heated by hot water circulating through a system of pipes. In electric warm fields, the heating of the room occurs from the transition of electrical energy into thermal energy - the electric current passes through a special cable, it heats up and gives off heat to the surrounding air.

The fundamental differences between water heated floors and electric

If the result obtained from the operation of various underfloor heating is similar, then technically these systems are completely different.

  • a water floor is a pipe system that is laid on the floor of a room using a certain technology. The design is connected to the heating system of the house. The temperature of the water floor is controlled using a special cabinet;
  • instagram viewer
  • the main element in the electric floor heating is a special heating cable, which is laid on the floor surface according to a certain pattern. When current passes through this cable, thermal energy is released.

A variant of the electric floor can be the laying of special mats, and which is a heated electrical wire. There are also film heat-insulated floors. In this case, the heating elements are carbon alloy nanoelements. The film floor is called infrared.

Which gender is preferred?

The choice of the type of underfloor heating from the following housing parameters:

  • practice has shown that a warm floor, where the coolant is water, is usually used in rooms where there is easy access to the heating system. The area of such a room can be over 30 meters. Such a system is most often used in private homes where there is an independent heating system;
  • underfloor heating with heating from an electric cable is most effectively used in homes where there is access to cheap electricity, and access to the heating system is difficult or non-existent. It must be remembered that the technical conditions require the cable to be laid inside the screed, which gives this system certain limitations;
  • mats used to create a warm floor do not require a screed. They are fixed with tile adhesive;
  • infrared floors do not require screeds either. They can simply be covered with laminate sheets.

conclusions

The labor costs for installing a water and electric underfloor heating are almost the same. The cost of a water floor is higher, but lower operating costs offset these costs. The owner of the apartment will not be able to install the water floor on his own, since he will need to connect to the central heating, which cannot be done without the participation of specialists.

The preference for one or another system depends on the cost of electricity, utility tariffs for hot water, or the cost of fuel for heating water in your home. The choice is made taking into account all these conditions.
