I am a fan of wooden houses. This material is strikingly beautiful even in its raw form, and if you put your hands on it, then nothing can compare with it in beauty. With all my love for wood, I am aware that in terms of durability and reliability, it is significantly inferior to other materials, especially in matters of construction.
Houses made of brick or stone are many times longer. They are not affected by water and sun. Wood does not tolerate this, it cracks, turns black and becomes unusable. From moisture, it simply rots.
But it is possible and necessary to fight these negative phenomena. You can protect a tree and there are many ways to do this. After all, very often you can see wooden houses that have been standing for many decades and do not lose their performance. This is the merit of a special treatment that makes the wood invulnerable to natural phenomena.
In modern stores, there are a large number of varnishes that can be used to coat wood and protect it from moisture and sunlight. There are also special impregnations, antiseptics, the treatment of which kills the living creatures that breed in wooden products. Unfortunately, such processing should be done regularly, at least once a year. It's reliable, but expensive.
Experienced builders told me a recipe for homemade impregnation and I want to talk about it in this article. This impregnation has been known for a long time, but only old people remember about it, since the novelties that appeared in sale, eclipsed with bright labels this old, but reliable and very cheap way to protect wooden at home.
The main and only ingredients in this product are:
- diesel fuel - 8 parts;
- engine oil (used) - 1 part
The composition of the impregnation is very simple. For its preparation, eight parts of diesel fuel and one part of used oil are mixed. After thorough mixing, the manufacturing process ends and practical use can begin - to cover the resulting mixture with wood.
In order to cover the log walls evenly, I use the widest size paint brush. Important: inside the house, wood cannot be processed with this mixture. Oil and diesel fuel are toxic materials, you must be careful when working and use protective equipment - gloves, goggles and an apron.
Wood coated with a similar composition does not react to the sun's rays and calmly "holds" any precipitation, since the impregnation penetrates up to 5 cm deep. Store funds do not go to any comparison with it in this characteristic. A house treated with this material will last for decades and will not be damaged by snow, rain and sun. The wood gets a very attractive look, it darkens and begins to shine.
If the owner of the house wants the tree to become not dark, but light, then it is necessary to use not used oil, but new. In this case, the treated wood will shine, as after varnishing.
Impregnation from oil and diesel fuel does not allow a single insect to live, does not let ultraviolet light through. Accordingly, the tree will not crack.
