Appearance

The Jumper EZBook X1 is made in a not quite classic Yoga format: instead of a single hinge, a pair of small-sized ones are used, which also provide transformation - a 360-degree rotation. In addition, instead of uniform thickness, the designers used thinning of the body towards the free edge, due to which the device appears smaller.

Unlike its counterparts - other transformers of the company, the EZBook X1 received a screen with minimal frames, for which the camera was moved under the screen. This is implemented in approximately the same way in the popular Dell XPS 13. Perhaps this is what the new product is most similar to, although the dimensions hint at similarities with the MacBook Air.

There is no choice of color - the only solution available to the buyer is called “silver”. Which is easily explained, since the body is completely made of metal. But only on the outside - the inner surface consists of monolithic plastic panels without backlash.

The dimensions of the EZBook X1 are 27.50 x 18.80 x 1.40 cm, that is, slightly smaller than an A4 sheet. Weighing about 1 kg, it can be called perhaps the most portable Chinese ultrabook transformer.

Display

As a display, the EZBook X1 uses a high-quality IPS matrix with a diagonal of 11.6 inches and Full HD resolution.

The screen surface is glossy because it is protected by Gorilla Glass and the included protective film. hides the touch layer, which is incredibly necessary for using such devices in tablet mode and "tenta".

The hinge looks reliable, but we will only find out with time how high quality it is.

Viewing angles are maximum, color rendition is close to ideal for budget matrices of this type. Everything was achieved thanks to OGS - there is no air gap between the touch layer and the panel.

The brightness is average and may not be enough under the summer sun. In addition, the screen does not have an oleophobic coating - all fingerprints and glare will be in full glory.

Touchpad and keyboard

The keyboard is a regular membrane one. The compact dimensions of the EZBook X1 dictate rather harsh conditions, so in the absence of a scissor mechanism, the key travel is small and the tactility is average. The keyboard is suitable for touch typing.

Backlighting and Russian layout are not included in the basic configuration. Since a standard QWERTY with smaller arrow keys is used, it is enough to purchase a set of stickers - and there will be no problems with engraving.

The top row of the keyboard combines the function row and the F-key block. By default, F1-F12 work, which pleasantly distinguishes the EZBook X1 from the mass of Chinese tablet-laptops.

Disabling the keyboard in tablet mode is implemented automatically: as soon as the deviation angle exceeds 180 degrees, the sensors disable text input.

The touchpad is medium in size and supports all Windows 10 gestures. And it does it well - without phantom clicks or accidental triggers.

Hardware capabilities

The new generation Gemini Lake quad-core Intel Celeron N4100 processor was chosen as the “heart” of the Jumper EZBook X1. In fact, this is the successor to the N3450, popular in the previous generation of similar devices.

The main difference of the new product was the increased frequency of the computing cores from 1.1 GHz to 2.5 GHz and the use of the Intel UHD Graphics 600 graphics accelerator. Of course, it’s not a gaming package – but there’s enough performance for CS: Go, office suites and web surfing.

4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal eMMC memory help cope with tasks, which, however, can be expanded with an M.2 solid-state hard drive. In the basic configuration, the slot is already occupied by a 64 SSD GB.

Unfortunately, the memory is not expandable: it is already soldered on the board, there are no additional slots.

Battery life

To ensure adequate battery life, the Jumper EZBook X1 is equipped with a pair of 3500 mAh batteries combined for a total capacity of 7000 mAh.

For charging, it uses its own connector, reminiscent of miniDP. Fast algorithms and PD protocol are not supported, so the process takes about 3 hours.

To compensate, the Jumper EZBook X1 offers good battery life for its rank: With active use and maximum screen brightness, the laptop can work for 4-5 hours on one charge.

Less demanding tasks, such as working in office suites, allow you to use the device throughout the entire working day without interruption.

Interfaces and network

Wireless interfaces in the EZBook X1 are represented by modern dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The module is not replaceable, but is fast enough and provides a strong connection with all devices.

On the sides there are two speakers, a power button and a volume button, which allows you to adjust the volume, regardless of the position of the laptop - as befits transformers.

Wired interfaces are represented by USB Type-C, microUSB, 3.5 mm headphone connectors and an HDMI output. MicroSD memory cards up to 256 GB are supported.

conclusions

jumper_ezbook_x1-review-04

At the moment, the Jumper EZBook X1 costs $260, which is the lowest price for transformers, even despite the use of the most modern hardware platform.

In addition, most Chinese competitors are inferior to the device in terms of screen quality. A clear drawback was the non-expandable memory - but for such a compact laptop this is usually not a stumbling block. The EZBook X1 copes with its tasks perfectly.

You can take it.
