Sometimes they come back... In fact, the history of technology development is cyclical. Now it's the turn of Android tablets.
Some time ago, they almost disappeared from the market, giving way to rather expensive, heavy, but practical hybrids with Windows 10 as the main operating system. After some time, users realized that Android was cheaper and more useful: content was more convenient to consume on this system. And there was a demand.
And with it - a proposal. Today we will look at a new Teclast tablet running Android, which was able to combine all the modern features: a 2K display, a powerful processor, a fingerprint scanner and a full set of communication modules.

Appearance
Teclast T20 is made in the classic candy bar format with a 10.1-inch diagonal screen and is completely covered with Gorilla Glass on the front side.
The bottom and top frames are wide enough for a comfortable grip in landscape orientation. The side ones, although smaller, are also not very encouraging in 2018 - they are too large. However, due to this, you definitely won’t be able to hold the tablet by the screen.
The top edge is where the buttons and charging port are located: on the left is the volume rocker and power button, on the right is USB-C. The connector is not covered with a plug
The headphone jack is located next to the SIM card slot - on the left side. Also, on each side frame there are speaker grilles. There are two of them, so the sound is quite pleasant.
The tablet body is all-metal, made from a single sheet. The exception is the insert under the camera - it is plastic, since the antennas are hidden under it.
To protect user data, there is a fingerprint scanner with the ability to block each application individually.
Screen
Teclast has chosen the right path and installs SHARP screens in all its tablets, which are considered the best on the market. The previous Master T10 and M20 models had the same gorgeous 2.5K screen.
The insane resolution does hinder performance somewhat, but is incredibly enjoyable when used as a content consumption device. Indeed, a very good and correct image, which you don’t expect from a Chinese tablet.
Its only drawback is that the brightness is not too high. However, the display remains readable in bright sunlight and exhibits almost no glare. Almost - the screen is glossy. But there are almost no fingerprints left due to the oleophobic coating.
Hardware Performance
Teclast T20 is built on a ten-core MediaTek Helio X27 processor with a clock frequency of 2.6 GHz. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.
This tablet is very similar to the M20, but the MTK X27 processor is 30% more powerful than that used in the previous lightweight version of the MTK X23.
According to synthetic tests, the performance increase is about 30% compared to X23. The graphics are the same - Mali T880. Due to this, the tablet achieves good results in Antutu.
RAM - 4 GB (DDR3). A 64 GB eMMC drive is used as the main memory. Volume expansion is supported using flash cards up to 256GB.
The actual performance of the Teclast T20 is sufficient to play the latest games at medium settings without overheating. Early versions of Asphalt run at maximum. There are no problems with the interface or programs - everything is smooth and stable.
Network interfaces
As the main network interface, Teclast T20 uses a SIM card that supports most frequencies:
2G: 900 MHz (B8), 1,800 MHz (B3);
3G: WCDMA 2 100 MHz (B1), TD-SCDMA 1 900 MHz (B39), 2 010 MHz (B34);
4G: TDD-LTE 2600 MHz (B38), 1900 MHz (B39), 2400 MHz (B40), 2690 MHz (B41), FDD-LTE 1800 MHz (B3) and 2100 MHz (B1).
This allows you not only to surf the Internet, but also to make regular voice calls - or write SMS. Thus, T20 can hardly be called a huge phablet. Just don’t forget that with such dimensions it’s worth using a headset.
The tablet is also equipped with a dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac module supporting speeds up to 300 Mb/s and a transmitter Bluetooth 4.0. A GPS module is used for navigation - accurate enough to be used on the streets cities.
Autonomy
The tablet battery has a capacity of 8100 mAh. USB-C has become the main connector for synchronization and charging, which is powered by a USB 3.0 controller. Due to this, the transmission speed corresponds to modern standards.
In addition, the tablet supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging, thanks to which the battery is replenished from zero to 100% in just 2.5 hours. Not only the original device included in the kit is suitable for charging, but also absolutely any QC 3.0 charger. Finally, there is no need to use separate chargers for each type of device
Officially, the manufacturer claims 8 hours of operation. In our testing, the tablet lasted 6 hours during 3D games, 8 hours when watching movies, and Internet surfing via Wi-Fi consumed its energy reserves after 9 hours. Good results that will allow you to use the Teclast T20 even as a work device - enough for a long flight or a working day.
Cameras
The tablet has two cameras of 13 megapixels each. The quality is exactly the same. Not very good - for modern smartphones. But for a tablet this is an excellent result. There is autofocus and HDR mode, so there are enough possibilities not only for video chats.
If desired, the Teclast T20 camera will replace a simple budget smartphone or an old mirrorless camera.
conclusions
Teclast T20 is currently one of the best purchases. If you need a large tablet, it's worth considering.
There are several reasons, the most important of which is a very good display, in comparison with which traditional FullHD models are lost. In addition, the T20's performance-autonomy balance strikes a reasonable middle ground. The device works for a long time, copes with any tasks... And does not break the bank.
The current cost of Teclast T20 is only $209. There are no analogues with similar characteristics.
