Appearance
Although the Xiaomi Mi 5X is a modification of the Mi 5s, the company’s marketers classify it as a mid-segment smartphone and there are certain simplifications in its appearance.
An excellent IPS panel with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and Full HD resolution is responsible for the image.
Instead of the central key, Xiaomi Mi 5X received three navigation buttons, like the Redmi and Redmi Note series devices. In this regard, the fingerprint scanner has moved to the rear panel. The solution is absolutely correct - this is how the finger automatically hits the scanner.
The exterior of the case has undergone a complete redesign. Now it is more reminiscent of Apple devices than the usual Xiaomi flagships. This also affected the materials - instead of the usual glass, Xiaomi Mi 5X received an all-metal body. The antennas are placed in the same way as on the iPhone 7 (or Mi Max 2).
But it’s hard to call the Mi 5X another clone - it’s all about its capabilities.
Hardware platform
The heart of the new Xiaomi product is the Snapdragon 625 processor, already familiar from Redmi 4Pro and Mi Max 2, as well as 4 GB of modern and very fast DDR4X RAM. The volume of the built-in storage does not change and can only be 64 GB.
Unfortunately, the device's battery is only 3000 mAh. Despite the incredible efficiency of the Snapdragon 625 processor when working with MIUI 8.5 (Xiaomi's proprietary operating system based on Android 7.1), you should not wait for the results of Redmi 4 Prime (Pro) - the smartphone will work for no more than a day in active mode.
Like other smartphones of the company, Xiaomi Mi 5X received a dual SIM card slot and a modern USB-C connector.
Multimedia capabilities
The main feature of the new product is the dual main camera of the original design. Instead of the usual Sony modules, the Xiaomi Mi 5X uses 2 OmniVision sensors with 12 megapixel cameras.
One of the modules is wide-angle. The second is designed for shooting at long distances. Thanks to the solution, the smartphone received a 2x optical zoom and excellent hardware bokeh in pictures.
A unique feature of Xiaomi Mi 5X will be sound. The team does not reveal secrets, but says that it will be the most musical of the entire lineup: Mi 5X will have the ability to play DSD audio files and a built-in amplifier.
