For the second time, the Gearbest brand for household appliances Alfavise has been noted for its unique solution for the international market. This time the company has released a huge Alfawise U20 3D printer with an incredibly large working area. In addition, the new product boasts that it comes in the form of ready-made assemblies, eliminating startup problems, and does not require serious skills to get started.
The starter kit includes only 3 modules: a desktop on a chassis, an arch with an extruder and a control unit combined with a power supply. It only takes 5 minutes to assemble the printer—that’s exactly how long it takes to connect the electronics and install the arch on the work surface. Immediately after this, Alfawise U20 is ready for the first turn on and immediate operation.
An important fact is that all wires, rods, motors are immediately installed on the base subassemblies and connected to their connectors. Thus, even a child can handle the assembly. Installation errors are also eliminated - all units are adjusted at the factory and do not require serious adjustment or calibration.
Alfawise U20 has a standard Prisa type design: moving table (0z axis), arch (0y axis), extruder axis (0x axis). The work table is heated (working range from 30 to 100 degrees Celsius), which allows you to work with any plastic rod with a thickness of 1.75 mm. Printing is supported using ABS, PLA, PVA, PP, TPU, Wood Filled.
Alfawise U20 axles are made of high-quality industrial profile with a larger cross-section, which made it possible to eliminate the need for additional supports for power elements and to make the design lighter. For the brackets on which the motors are mounted, 3D printed ABS parts are used instead of traditional acrylic - their strength is an order of magnitude higher than acrylic ones. It is also worth noting that the necessary plastic plugs and limiters are already included in the design of Alfawise U20, which in most kits for self-assembly of a 3D printer it is proposed to develop and print on one's own.
The Alfawise U20 print head is equipped with a standard 0.4 mm extruder, which allows out of the box to achieve printing accuracy of up to 0.012 mm at 0x and 0y, and 0.004 mm at 0z. Powerful motors allow printing speeds of up to 150 mm/s - this is incredibly important for this model, since the maximum working area of the printer reaches 300 x 300 x 400 mm! However, if this turns out to be not enough, Alfawis has a U10 model with a print area of 400 x 400 x 500 mm.
There is a proximity sensor on the print head, so Alfawise U20 can automatically calibrate. Other smart features include Power Outrage Recovery and Filament Run Out Detection. One of them allows you to correctly resume printing when the process is interrupted, the second is responsible for the same thing, but in cases of problems with the filament.
The control unit supports both work via a PC using any standard software, and autonomous use. In the latter case, models are loaded into the printer via a microSD slot, and printing is configured and started using the touch screen.
An important competitive advantage of Alfawise U20 was the price. Despite the large delivery set, from June 15 to June 19 it can be purchased for $299. This is exactly what a Creality3D or TEVO Tornado of similar dimensions costs.
