The well-known manufacturer of action cameras Hawkeye presented its new product on Gearbest: Firefly 8SE with 4k support and optical stabilization. Among the abundance of devices in this class, the new product is distinguished by its low price, powerful processor, new anti-reflective lens and a small surprise for selfie lovers.

The camera is based on a 12-megapixel SONY IMX117 sensor and an Ambarella A12S75 processor. In addition to the performance sufficient for fast recording, the processor is equipped with support for extended dynamic range. The clarity of the image is ensured by a new 170-degree lens for Hawkey with a French anti-reflective coating for more accurate color reproduction and a unique blue filter that eliminates unwanted lens flare in bright Sun.

Maximum video resolution is 4K, 30 frames per second. It also supports 2K and FullHD shooting at 60 fps. The camera can shoot Time-Lapse and Slow Motion video with frame rates up to 240 (for HD) or 120 (for FUllHD).

For shooting dynamic scenes, Firefly 8SE is equipped with stabilization, eliminating defects in shooting in motion. If necessary, you can use a standard protective box.

The camera is controlled using both a standard set of buttons and a 2-inch IPS touch screen with support for swiping to navigate to the menu. In addition to this, the user can use a companion smartphone app that communicates with the camera via a direct Wi-Fi connection. A wireless Bluetooth controller is optionally available.

The wireless communication range allows us to recommend the camera for use with quadcopters. Although, using a separate cable, you can connect Firefly 8SE to remote RC receivers directly, bypassing the smartphone.

Among the interesting features of Firefly 8SE it is worth mentioning the presence of a connector for connecting an external microphone. The camera is also equipped with a standard 1/4" connector for mounting on a tripod or selfie stick.

Selfie lovers will definitely love the unique mirror on the front of the camera, which allows you to control your shooting and know exactly what fits into the frame.

The Firefly 8SE's functionality goes beyond just shooting video. The camera takes 12-megapixel photos and can work as a surveillance camera or car recorder. For the latter 2 features, it comes with a motion tracking sensor that triggers the camera once it detects movement in the camera's field of view.

The Hawkeye Firefly 8SE is currently priced at $150, but can be purchased for just $140 from July 2nd to July 8th on Gearbest. Not a bad discount that significantly increases the value of the new item.
