UMIDIGI (formerly UMI), a well-known company among fans of Chinese smartphones, has released a lightweight version of the current flagship S2.
The new product received a full set of trending features of the year: a frameless screen with a fashionable aspect ratio of 18:9, an economical eight-core processor, sufficient memory for 2018, and a dual camera. And with all this – an excellent battery!
The cheaper flagship called UMIDIGI S2 Lite received the Mediatek MT6750T platform and 4 GB of RAM. Sufficient for most users, the hardware can compete with many budget solutions from Qualcomm, but offers better power optimization and lower cost.
The main feature of the UMIDIGI S2 Lite was a feature copied from the flagship device - a frameless screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display is protected by tempered Gorilla Glass 4 with the highest degree of protection. The glass goes well with the body, made of a single piece of metal.
On the back cover of the device there is a dual camera and a fast fingerprint scanner. The main camera module is based on a 16-megapixel OV16880 module and an additional 5-megapixel correction lens. The second camera allows UMIDIGI S2 Lite to take richer pictures, and can also be used to create a bokeh effect.
Like many other smartphones of 2018, UMIDIGI S2 Lite received the function of unlocking the owner's face using the front 5-megapixel camera. It works a little worse than in the iPhone X, but the price of the 2 devices is completely incomparable.

Another feature of UMIDIGI S2 Lite is a capacious 5200 mAh battery. In addition, the smartphone supports fast charging via the USB-C port with current parameters of 5V/2A.
UMIDIGI proposed Android 7.1 as the operating system for the lightweight flagship, but a major update to Oreo is being prepared in the very near future.
