Known for its unique, high-end rugged smartphones, AGM has released an interesting new product: AGM X2 SE, a simplified relative of the most sophisticated rugged smartphone, which even Samsung is inferior to Active.
How are the 2 versions different?
Don't delude yourself. Traditionally, the SE index denotes a more advanced version. However, AGM X2 SE is a simplified version.
The first and most significant difference: AGM X2 SE is available only in a version with 64 GB of permanent memory.
The second, less noticeable, although for some more important point: the simplified version does not have a barometer and temperature sensor. These are serious professional level sensors. Maybe not the most popular, but still.
Appearance
AGM X2 SE is still the same huge smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen. It is much larger than its analogues - only in area it is close to Xiaomi Mi Max 2. The thickness is like 3 such devices. But if you compare it with other rugged smartphones, it’s even compact.
The finishing is also pleasing. Instead of cheap rubber - high-quality plastic, metal and glass. Moreover, the back panel is made of glass, although it is recessed for protection. And it’s not just any glass, but Gorilla Glass 5. The corners are protected by plastic inserts that completely cover the glass.
The overall layout of the smartphone is classic. Above the screen there is a speaker, light and proximity sensors, a camera and a multi-colored LED. The left side is occupied by a rocker and a separate button for photos, the right side is occupied by a power button and a hybrid slot for SIM/memory card. The AGM X2 also contains an air pollution level sensor.
At the bottom there is a USB Type-C connector. The port is covered with a plug, but it is only to protect it from sand/dirt; the connector itself is sealed and is not afraid of water, as is the 3.5 mm output on the top edge.
On the back of the case there is a dual camera with flash, a lanyard loop, a microphone for the noise reduction system and a fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone complies with the American military standard MIL-STD-810G, which means it can withstand a fall on asphalt from 1 meter, a small explosion, any shaking and operates at temperatures from -30 to +60. He is also not afraid of pressure changes.
Display
The AGM X2 SE screen is worthy of special praise: it uses a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with fullHD resolution. Excellent screen: bright, rich colors; the contrast is beyond praise. The Always On function is supported - that is, the screen can display the clock and practically not waste energy.
Hardware filling
The hardware platform uses an economical Quallcomm chip and 6 GB of RAM. which combines the pair and the frontal one, are also inherited in full. A huge battery - 6000 mAh with support for QC 3.0 fast charging is present.
Cameras
The main camera of the AGM X2 SE is equipped with a pair of 12-megapixel sensors: color and monochrome. Of course, you shouldn’t count on the bokeh effect - the second module is needed for shooting in low light and improving the quality of the image. The cameras can even handle night photography.
The front panel uses a 16-megapixel Samsung sensor and produces excellent selfies.
conclusions
Today AGM X2 SE is one of the most productive and advanced secure smartphones. The closest and only analogue is Samsung Active, which is a version of the flagship Galaxy. However, while the Korean smartphone may offer a more powerful platform, the AGM takes better pictures, has longer battery life and looks more stylish.
Unfortunately, you have to pay for everything. At the moment, the promotional price of AGM X2 SE is $429. After the sale ends, the smartphone will only be available for $450. However, this is almost 2 times cheaper than Samsung devices of the same class.
