GPD is a popular gaming console manufacturer. In past. Nowadays it is better known for the cool GPD Win laptop console - a kind of hybrid of Nintendo and a Chinese netbook with an Atom x7-Z8700 and a 5.5-inch touch screen.
A fresh engineering thought prompted the GPD developers to create a microlaptop - a device even smaller than a netbook, which would fit in a pocket and be equipped with a hardware keyboard for touch typing.
The device, called GPD Pocket 7, will be equipped with a 7-inch diagonal screen and a touch layer. High resolution (1920 × 1200) will allow you to adequately scale the interface in the stated Ubuntu and Windows 10.
As a processor, GPD developers plan to use the time-tested and a bunch of Chinese tablets Atom x7-Z8700 with 4 gigabytes of RAM. To ensure maximum performance and the ability to replace a full-fledged laptop, Pocket 7 is planned to have a 128 GB SSD hard drive, a capacious battery for 12 hours of battery life with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, a set of wired interfaces including modern USB-C with support for video streaming and full-size USB 3.0.
It is also planned to equip GPD Pocket 7 with active cooling, implemented according to the GPD WIN principle. On top of that, the user will not need to use a wireless mouse - of course, the touchpad does not fit into such dimensions. It will be replaced by everyone's favorite joystick, copied from old IBM laptops.
