Let us remind you that the Black Shark smartphone from Xiaomi, presented in the spring, became the first gaming smartphone from our favorite Chinese manufacturer. And, apparently, the only truly gaming smartphone on the market.
The name “gaming” was given to Black Shark for a reason. This is the only smartphone that comes with a proprietary game controller, turning the device into a full-fledged gaming console.
Powering this 6-inch sporty-looking smartphone that stands out from the sleek, glassy flagships of 2018 is the most powerful processor yet: the Snapdragon 845.
You might say - just like many other Xiaomi smartphones, such as Mi 8 and Mix 2s. But it was not there. Despite the chip's tiny size, Qualcomm's flagship processor generates a lot of heat, causing most smartphones, including the Samsung based on it, to heat up while gaming. The processor begins to reset its frequency to cool down - and games begin to slow down.
But Black Shark is equipped with a liquid cooling system that stabilizes the temperature: even at At maximum load, it heats up only 8 degrees compared to a “cold” processor at simple. Compared to competitors, stability increases by 70%!
The same thing happens with the video accelerator. The Adreno 630 graphics subsystem built into the platform copes with any modern load without dropping frames, including popular games like PUBG or the upcoming Fornite - of course, in maximum quality without downloading background applications.
And a fairly decent amount of them will fit into the memory: the basic version of the smartphone is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 64 permanent memory. The advanced modification boasts 8 and 128 GB of memory, respectively.
However, the basic version will hold the title of the most powerful smartphone for a long time. Using the additional multifunctional SHARK button, the smartphone can implement one of 10 scenarios built into the firmware (you need to select the one you need in advance in the settings):

- incoming call reset,
- hiding notifications,
- outgoing call without leaving the game,
- activating display safe mode (blue filter),
- turning off the screen,
- speeding up the game (disabling background processes).
Moreover, productivity is only the tip of the iceberg. Xiaomi Black Shark claims to be the most fashionable flagship thanks to its stylish gaming design with an extremely comfortable grip. The body is made of polycarbonate with rubberized inserts.
For flawless gaming while maintaining a compact size, the developers chose a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The panel used in the Black Shark is IPS class and has a resolution of 2160 x 1080 dpi (enough for a clear image, but not unnecessarily loading the system).
In addition, the smartphone boasts rare screen qualities: it displays colors according to the DCI-P3 standard, covering 97% of the human visible range. This is an excellent result, unfamiliar to users of modern compact gaming systems - and similar screens are almost never found in smartphones.
In addition, Black Shark uses a dedicated Pixelworks image processing chip to improve picture quality and make it smoother. All these image enhancement measures, together with proprietary blue light reduction technology, will have a beneficial effect on the vision of gamers. Perhaps the Black Shark is the best choice for long-term gaming.
It is curious that the company’s designers abandoned the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel, which is familiar to Xiaomi, and offered customers an under-screen Home button with a built-in sensor.
Productive hardware and a bright screen require a decent amount of energy, so Black Shark is equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.
The Black Shark developers paid no less attention to the sound component of the smartphone. For playing without headphones, the smartphone has stereo speakers. For clear voice transmission and the ability to broadcast games from noisy public places, the smartphone uses three microphones that implement a professional noise reduction system both in games and during everyday use smartphone.
For high-quality audio output, the smartphone uses a pair of popular Smart PA amplifiers and a built-in Qualcomm DAC with support for Hi-Fi audio up to 24 bit/192 kHz. Fans of wireless audio will also be able to enjoy high-quality sound thanks to support for aptX and aptX HD.
And the cameras are top notch: a dual 20+12 MP module is chosen as the main one, the front one is equipped with a single 20 MP sensor. The optical system is borrowed from the flagship Mi 8, so Black Shark can safely be called a “photo flagship”.
Although, it seems that in 2018 Xiaomi Black Shar will become the company’s most advanced smartphone.
