As in the spring, developing the beds for planting vegetables, I found on the ground a lone sprout tomato. Here and so began my experience planting tomatoes for the winter. It seemed absurd that seed of thermophilic cultures, which in the autumn of ripe fruit fell to the ground, was able to survive the winter and come up out of the frozen ground. In any case, I covered it with a five-liter canister cut down.
To my surprise, I moved to sprout growth, and every day the stalk grew stronger. I did not become a transplant, and delete stepchildren. In July, it was covered with yellow flowers, inside which the small green pellets formed, - tomato ovaries.

I was pleased the solid pluses:
- Planting seedlings from growing podzimnego more hardy and robust to temperature and other adverse environmental influences.
- Hardened bushes hardly get sick late blight, are not affected by fungi.
- Grow in conventional soil, it does not require the purchase of a special mixture.
- Seedlings content with natural daylight, without the need for additional lighting.
- Fruit grows on bushes of no less than conventional grown seedling method at home.

Using this experience, at the beginning of October, I deliberately planted tomatoes for the winter.
- Advance one line at a distance of 30 cm to make a small hole and put each on a large ripe tomatoes.
- I fell asleep on top of the compost, well compacted and covered non-woven fabric. To avoid being blown away by the wind, sketched on top of spruce branches and strengthened the perimeter of stones.
Honestly, I did not hope for a positive result, considering last year's bush just a fluke.
But the thirst for life, not only helped to seed winter and give a strong seedlings, but also to develop a strong immunity against Phytophthora. In this way, I filled out a 10-hole, but regretted that it is not used for planting tomatoes for the winter a larger area on the site.

I like to plant tomatoes for the winter. capacity in the spring with seedlings now take up much less space on the windowsills. But the large tomato varieties I grow seedlings in the usual way, because then they are sent to permanent residence in the greenhouse. Wintering seeds without any care and special soil to germinate and become strong and healthy shrubs with strong stems.
But with this method that I planted, sprouted, not all seeds. So, we need to find a mistake. And the thing is "packing" for tomatoes at planting before winter.

Applying straw for insulation of tomatoes, I noticed that they were not subjected to root rot, and on the surface there was no brown spots. This time for the winter planting of favorite vegetables treated more seriously.
- I bought a straw bale. disinfected pink solution of potassium permanganate on the safe side and leave for a while in the container.
- Down in the previously prepared wells packed straw layer, which placed one ripe fruit of tomatoes.
- Above each tomato covered layer of straw. Straw-packed compost and rammed his tight.
- Each well has covered the old burlap and stacked the remaining straw mixed with nettle branches, which still continues to live and green near the fence.
During the winter tomato pulp had time to rot, and seeds, wrapped straw sprouted. Spring cleaned burlap, replacing it with a mini teplichke of five-liter bottles to protect tender seedlings of morning frost.
