From Moscow to Europe by train

  • Dec 24, 2019

Flight by plane is not the only way to comfortably reach Europe. Every evening from Moscow train leave Leo Tolstoy, who goes to Helsinki, and for me the trip on it is cheaper and more comfortable flight.

Lev Tolstoi departs from Moscow at 23:10 and arrives in Helsinki at 13:37 the next day (the return train departs from Helsinki at 18:47 and arriving in Moscow at 09:19).

To fly on an airplane, you need to get to the airport, coming back strongly in advance, then another to get from the arrival airport to the city, and here rode the subway to Leningrad Station in 10 minutes before departure, I boarded a train, and the next day was in the center of Helsinki and good sleep satisfied.

The ticket costs about the same as on the plane, the savings obtained due to the fact that it is not necessary to book a hotel on the first day, because if arrive during the day or in the evening, it will have to do, and if you fly early in the morning, you will wake up at night to escape the airport and then walk around Helsinki sleepy.

I show you what's inside the train. Innovation at the Leningrad station - at the beginning of platforms hung scoreboard, which clearly show where the head and the tail of the train, and where the necessary car. Conveniently.

It can be seen as different in size cars of the train and a restaurant. Wagons of European standard - they are a bit longer ours.

Train modern, and perhaps has a maximum equipment of all Russian trains. First of all, all the way to the train with free Wi-Fi (see the sticker on the window).

The bed is already laid out in the ticket price includes snacks and breakfast. Slippers too give. :)
On the top shelf leads handy foldable ladder.

Sliding Doors do not move, and open to the outside (as it should according to European standards).

The doors are equipped with electronic locks, open cards.

In a compartment above the door of the control panel.

Electronic temperature control. There are cooling and heating.

On the sides of the table - outlet.

Under the table in each compartment - sink.

At the end of the corridor electronic scoreboard.

Modern toilet with a vacuum system toilet drain.

Washbasin is equipped with a thermostat. The water is warm, turn on the big button.

Surprisingly, in each car is not only a toilet, but shower.

At the conductor has a cooler with hot and cold potable water, electric, microwave oven and refrigerator.

Free Wi-FI is based on the mobile Internet is not everywhere. When connecting the cover shows the quality of the card all the way. Still there is entertainment server running without the Internet. There you can watch a movie, and even cause the wire directly from your smartphone.

And still on the train, Leo Tolstoy, you can travel with the car. The train has a special wagons-transporters, which you can load your car and drive from Moscow to Helsinki and back.

I shot a video about the train, Leo Tolstoy. Look!

I was the third time I go to Finland on the train and I like it much more than by plane - even though the road itself and takes 14 hours instead of two, so trip more comfortable: in the evening without any problems got on the train and in the afternoon the next day you find yourself in the center of a cheerful and not tired after the flight. Another plus of the train - there are no restrictions on luggage (this time I brought from Europe a huge suitcase vkusnyashek that would exceed all avianormy).
