Should I buy batteries Lexman Intensive

In Leroy Merlin have new batteries own brand Lexman - blue and white with "Alkaline Intensive" inscription. I bought it and compared to conventional red Lexman, being one of the best batteries on the market.


Conventional batteries Lexman Alkaline now cost 32/38 rubles for 4 pieces (9.5 p per piece AA, 8 p apiece AAA). New batteries Lexman Alkaline Intensive cost 88 rubles for 4 pieces (22 rubles apiece).

I tested the battery with the help of Battery Analyzer Oleg Artamonov.


The batteries were discharged in three modes:

• Discharging constant current of 200 mA. This load is typical for electronic toys;
• The discharge pulses (10 seconds load, 20 sec pause) the battery 2500 mA, and 1000 mA AA to AAA. This load characteristic for power devices;
• Discharge Mode "fixed resistor" with an initial current of 1000 mA. This mode emulates a flashlight or devices with electric motors.

Measurement made with the battery discharge to a voltage of 0.7 V.

When discharging a constant current of 200 mA battery given almost identical results: AA - 2.65 and 2.62 Wh, AAA - 1.07 and 1.09 Wh.


When pulsed discharge large current 2500 mA Lexman Intensive AA unexpectedly showed slightly worse results than the conventional Lexman - 0.79 MWh versus 0.9 MWh.


When pulsed discharge current of 1000 mA large conventional Lexman Lexman Intensive AAA and were almost identical: 0.55 and 0.51 Wh.


I conducted additional test, the AAA battery discharge mode, constant resistance in an initial current of 1000 mA. This mode emulates a powerful lamp, whose current consumption decreases as the battery discharges. In this mode, the capacity of conventional batteries and Lexman Lexman Intensive was again almost the same - 0.61 and 0.6 Wh.


Very similar to what Lexman Intensive is causing marketers. Apparently, the usual Lexman and Lexman Intensive is the same battery in different packaging. Of course, many people will buy more expensive batteries, hoping that they will work longer, but now you know that we should not succumb to marketing ploys.

According to the results of my tests the red battery Lexman 8 and 9.5 rubles no worse than blue Lexman Intensive for 22 rubles.
