In electromechanical stabilizers current collector is moved by winding autotransformer by a motor controlled by an electronic circuit. Step stabilize 0.5-3% (1-7 volts), but the sudden change in the input voltage, the motor does not have time to move the current collector, and may momentarily surges and voltage dips. Inverter Stabilizer works quite differently. In it there is no auto-transformer. The input AC voltage is rectified and stabilized, after which a constant voltage is converted to AC. Thus completely cut off any interference and radically solve the problem of stabilization - due to the fact that the output voltage is obtained from stabilized constant, it does not depend on the input: while the stabilizer to straighten and stabilize the input voltage condition, the voltage at the the output will be the same.

Eighteen months ago, I talked about the inverter regulator Calm InStab 500 (ammo1.livejournal.com/815274.html). Then these stabilizers are produced only at a voltage of 220 volts and a stabilizer with a voltage of 230 volts was made in a single copy specially for my project Lamptest.ru. Now, instead of a 500-watt stabilizer produced two models - IS350 (350 W), and IS550 (550 W), with each of them has a modification at 220, 230 and 240 volts.

Manufactures are re-pointing stabilization accuracy of 2%. In fact, it is higher in the order and does not exceed 0.2%. IS350 I measured output voltage stabilizer at different voltages at the input (100-300 V) and varying load (5-300 W). In most cases it was 229.9-230.0 V, falling to only 229.5 In the sudden change in load current.


The idling regulator consumes 15 watts. When the load power of 235 W, from the network power consumption was 253 watts (efficiency = 92.9%).

With substantial power stabilizer increases the power factor of the load (Power Factor). Thus, under a load of 145 W with PF = 0.56 Stabilizer consumes 162 watts from the network with PF = 0.92.

By design InStab IS500 and IS350 similar differs only hull having a single outlet instead of two, and in that the switch button is now laterally.


At the output is still the same pure sine wave synchronized with the mains voltage.


When the stabilizer is quietly buzzing, and when there is no load can be heard more and whistling sound. At a distance of a meter from the stabilizer, these sounds are no longer heard.
