I came to St. Petersburg to see the difference between a five-star hotel in technical terms and see how to generate the best hotel on Nevsky Prospect.
Radisson Royal Hotel on Nevsky Prospect, 49 closed in the beginning of January to open in February, with a completely different design rooms. In order to match the hotel category "five stars", must be fulfilled many of the requirements. One of them - the presence of a generator for independent power supply. The Radisson Royal set generator 330 kVA capacity with fuel reserve for 18 hours.
From the Nevsky Hotel is a four-story historic building.
At the same time seven floors in the hotel. In 1999, a small historic building was attached to the inner courtyard a modern seven-storey building in a way that from Nevsky it was not visible. The hotel was previously a category 5 stars, but for 17 years the design of its rooms is outdated, and the repair to be done it is time. I did not have time to catch rooms with furniture, it was taken recently. I am very pleased that the old furniture is not sent to landfill, and sold for some minimal money for everyone.

Repair of the corridors is not over yet, but it is clear how they will look after renovation.
Once this building is the famous cafe dubbed "Saigon". Now it looks like, but it may soon change.
To renovate each room takes a month, but the hotel can not afford to be idle for a long time, so simultaneously running a large number of masters and crews the hotel will be completely closed for at least two months.
For me it was the discovery found that tap water in the hotel is filtered, stored supply of hot water and the hotel is quite a long time powered by a generator during power failure. No less interesting to see how the design of the rooms.
