To begin with, for more than seven decades in a row, floors in almost all cases in Finnish residential buildings have been made not along logs, but along the ground with an insulated strip. Until 1962 the old Finnish system was used, the effectiveness of which cannot be argued against today.
In Russia, as a rule, they are insulated in the traditional way. From the bottom, along the logs, there is wind protection, in the intervals they put a roll-type insulation - 150-200, a vapor barrier or foil (reflector) on it, then a rough floor and a finishing one on it. But in harsh climatic conditions, this will not save.
In Finland, everything was done a little differently. There, first, plywood was laid, on it a 50 mm block, between which thermal insulation was laid using a cross method. Then there were logs 200 millimeters thick. Insulation 100 mm in two layers was laid between them. The top was again plywood.
As a result, the floors were insulated by 250 millimeters with stone wool. This was a critically acceptable indicator. In the recommendations of the developers, an indicator of 300 millimeters was indicated. The essential difference between our and Finnish methods is in the form of insulation. If in Russia it is a roll material with a density of 12-25 kg / m3, then in Finland they mainly use slab. To make the floor as warm as possible, it is important to choose the right stone wool. Its density should be 90-110 kg / m3. Such cotton wool is not blown through and is easy enough to mount.
