It has long been on the internet I found information that the truncation of the flowers on potato leads to a yield increase themselves tubers grow much larger.

I decided to take this experiment one year ago, when she saw her neighbor to testify, which used this method. I talked to her and she told me that she spends every year this procedure and get a good harvest at the end of the season. I also decided to try, as a matter of fact, I do not lose anything, and suddenly it is an effective method that works in practice.

From a scientific point of view, potato flowers grow seeds, which can then be planted in the ground and get a brand new plant breeding. Well, if we plant the tubers, the inherently potato variety does not change. Experienced gardeners say that We need to change the seed at least once in 5 years.

It should be added that it is completely different methods of reproduction of potato, which does not relate to each other. Some gardeners claim that the formation of tubers, flowers themselves have absolutely no influence. Others say that they take the nutrients, which adversely affects the crop.

A year ago, I decided to conduct the experiment and put an end to this matter. For this I chose a bed of flowers and plucked from the plant. Another part of me did not touch. I was wondering what in the end will grow tubers and whether a clear advantage of this method.

It should be added that the potato looked equally behind the bushes - time watering, traditional methods fighting the Colorado potato beetle and so on ...

At the end of the season I dug potatoes and got a result:

Absolutely no obvious difference I noticed. Under some bushes, without cutting off any flowers, the harvest was better, but under other all the way around. In the end, I got about the same yield and can not say with certainty, this method works or not at 100%. It seems to me that if for potatoes and timely care is correct, then the harvest will be pleased in any case and it does not matter, you broke off the flowers in the potato or not.

This year I will not be denied the flowers in the potato, because I think it's a waste of time.
