Marble - precious gift of land, turning into the hands of the sculptor into works of art. Because marble fragments, crumbs, dropout manufactured decorative chips for so-called mulching microcalcite (otherwise - marble powder).
If we refer to the chemistry, the marble - a calcium carbonate with a small addition of magnesium carbonate. Flour into the soil is practically insoluble in water, but highly soluble acids. Gradually dissolves soil acids and the lower layer of mulch marble chips. Thus acidity of the soil is greatly reduced, and calcium and magnesium, become available for assimilation by plants.
Compared with dolomite and limestone flour microcalcite slowly decomposes in the soil. In addition, the particles of marble flour as fine sand, slightly loosen the firm ground.
Adding marble flour improves the fertility of acidic loamy soil, and especially drained peatlands. It peat soils depleted of calcium and magnesium, because of this, they do not grow roots, the plants develop chlorosis. Adding microcalcite 6-7 kg per 1 sq. m peat digging under autumn gives good results and significantly reduces the number of feedings during the season.
