Washing machine drum - the main working body, a part of the tank, but requires more detailed consideration.

Drums are stamped from stainless steel. This is to ensure that over time, it is not influenced corrosion. Have a cylindrical shape. The lateral surface is covered with holes, through which water penetrates into the drum.

In the front section of drum formed fill opening, occupying approximately 80% of cross section area. The opening has an outer protrusion.

The rear wall deaf thereto by welding or rivets fastened spider. In the center of the cross is pressed into the working shaft.

The shaft serves for attachment of the drum to the rear wall of the tub, and provides its rotation.

It pierces his body for the installation of the bearing. The diameters of the bores at different models of cars are different and depend on the bearing, which is set by the manufacturer. At the base of the shaft (closer to the drum), there is a place under the gland landing.

The standard drum supported by two bearings, inside the tank (usually larger) and outside (smaller). There are models of the same size bearings or one.

The rear portion of the shaft has a mechanical bolt hole pulley and faces to exclude the rotation of the latter.

The bearing assembly of the drum is subject to wear and is part of a malfunction in the practice of repair washing machines.

Bearing wear occurs for several reasons:

  • large and uneven laundry load, in consequence of a large vibration;
  • oil seal wear, resulting in water penetrating into the bearing, the lubricant washes away and forms a corrosion moving elements;
  • service life and the natural wear of moving parts.

It should be noted that some manufacturers eliminate the repair unit bearings, releasing tight, collapsible tanks. In this case, their policy is to ensure that the tank assembly with a drum - one part and requires complete replacement. But many experts have learned to repair the whole tanks by opening (cutting in different ways) and the replacement of bearings and seals. The process is complex and time-consuming, but given the cost of ready-made solutions, justifies the means.

Another vulnerable place of the drum is a bearing cross. It breaks down due to overloading and uneven loading.

Also, hot water and chemicals in detergents leads to corrosive wear.
