Everyone who is at least minimally interested in aviation or regularly watches domestic news should have heard at least once about development of the Il-276 aircraft, which goes under the designations "multi-purpose transport aircraft" and "medium military transport airplane". A machine is being developed in order to replace in the future such aircraft as the An-12, An-26, An-72, which are in service with both the Russian Federation and India. And what about India in general? In fact, everything is simple.
The thing is that the Il-276 project was launched back in 2001. Its origins were the domestic enterprise NPK Irkut, as well as the Indian enterprise Hindustan Aeronautics. In other words, development is collaborative. The Indians made a significant contribution to the development of the project, in which about 600 million US dollars were invested. According to preliminary estimates, the cost of one Il-276 will be in the order of figures from 30 to 40 million dollars. Moreover, the Indian and Russian manufacturer, according to the agreement signed in 2007, dispose of equal 50% shares of the new joint venture.

As for the technical characteristics, the Il-276 aircraft will be operated by 3-4 people. The carrying capacity of the new MTS will be 20 tons with dimensions of 37.7x12 meters with a wingspan of 39.37 meters. The maximum takeoff weight of the cargo side will be 68 tons. The aircraft will be driven by a pair of PS-90A-76 power units. In the future, domestic designers hope to switch to the PD-14M. In pre-configured aircraft speed can reach 870 km / h. Cruising speed - 800 km / h. The practical flight range will reach 2 thousand km.
At the same time, most citizens are asking fair questions about when this miracle of technology will finally be able to see the white light and soar into the blue heights. As for the start of flights, they are scheduled for 2023. Thus, according to the developers' plan, the wait is not long at all. True, state and commercial operation will not begin until 2026.
