Many gardeners use salt in their gardens. The objectives are quite different. For example, one of my friend struggled with brine onion fly. And it really helped. But she did not know about the side effects. Indeed, the use of salt leads to serious consequences. Now I tell all about it.
What is dangerous for the garden salt?
Common salt, which we buy in stores, it is the sodium salt of hydrochloric acid.
When injected into the soil, the salt decomposes to HCl and other salts. The resulting hydrochloric acid reacts with the ground are in calcium, phosphorus and magnesium (Which fall into the soil, including from fertilizer and fertilizing) in whereby the insoluble salts are formed which can not assimilate plants. And that's too bad. Culture begin to receive less nutrients that greatly affect their growth and development (Not to mention the fruiting). Salt begins to interfere with the normal circulation of air and water that eventually makes the soil unsuitable for planting.
If you use table salt in the garden for a long time, there is a risk prosolit soil so that in the future the plant will just die. Moreover, it is practically impossible to get rid of salted soil.
What if the soil is already prosolena?
If the soil is already prosolena, it is best to proceed as follows:
- Wait until spring, when the earth will be "washed" meltwater. Sometimes it helps to get rid of excess salt;
- If the situation has not changed, it is necessary to remove a layer of salted and replace it with a new one. (Remove 50-60 cm salted land, and in its place buy fertile soil. It's not cheap, but there is no alternative)
My advice - use instead of salt counterparts. There are many recipes that allow you to achieve the same result, but without consequences.
