My site is located in the Leningrad region in horticulture Danube. In fact, this is a huge swamp, which in Soviet times was divided into sections. Therefore, the flying bloodsuckers for me is not just a common thing, and already an integral part of country life.

There, when mosquitoes are not so much. And it so happens that he did not know where to go from them. If the house can I include fumigator or light a spiral, then the garden will save them no.

Five years ago, I decided to approach the issue seriously. Calling specialized services and to combat insect chemistry I do not want. Firstly, it is quite expensive. Secondly, according to neighbors, not very effectively. Therefore, I decided to try the old method, which is used even my mother.

There are plants (herbs), the smell of mosquitoes which simply can not tolerate. If you plant them in their area, bloodsuckers will bother a lot less. Such herbs are quite a few, so I selected the five best.

1. Lavender

In the first place I have lavender. I love this flower because of its smell. And it blooms... a feast for the eyes.

Despite the beauty and the pleasant scent, this plant is perfectly repel mosquitoes. Many people know it as a great home remedy for moles.

I drop the flower around the recreation area, where we are going with friends in the evenings.

If you decide to fight mosquitoes - try in the first place lavender. I'm sure you will not regret.

2. Basil

I remember as a child used the basil leaves from itching after mosquito bites. Rubbed a few leaves so that there was juice and applied to the bite site. Excellent work, especially if the procedure done immediately after the bite.

Basil also effectively repels bloodsucking their odors. It can even be used at home, landed in a pot a few bushes. Wonderful natural alternative to various fumigators.

3. Mint

A large number of mint gives a strong odor that repels mosquitoes for a long time from the locus of the weed. However, the plant will have a lot of mint, a few bushes are unlikely to deter those brazen insects.

If mosquitoes annoy me very much, I take a few bushes of mint, mus them in your hands, gently rubs and shrugs like a fan. (This method is effective only if you are in one place and there is no wind)

4. Calendula

Unpretentious calendula not only pleases the eye, but also protects its smell of mosquitoes. This flower is a favorite of mine, he planted throughout the site. Beautiful and very practical plant.

5. Rosemary

If there is rosemary, mosquitoes have a hard time in your garden. This plant has a fairly strong smell, which is enhanced by the appearance of a small wind.

I would advise to be planted above the grass next to the summer kitchen, benches and places where you often are. Over time you get used to the smell of them and cease to notice it. But the mosquitoes will trouble you have much less.
