Has the subfloor been long gone? Why did this happen?

Previously, every old house had a wooden floor, which was then used as a foundation. A covering was laid on top of it, or the old floor was given a "second life" through simple construction manipulations.

Wooden floorboards can be planed, sanded, varnished. The result is an excellent coating that fits into any interior.

You know what I often hear from customers or ordinary people who decide to make repairs. The fact that for the arrangement of the subfloor additional material investments are required.

Personally, it seems to me that the rough floor has more advantages than disadvantages.

1. The space under the floor, not less than 40 millimeters, allows you to lay various communications, conduct electricity, etc.

The advantage is that at any time you can get to the wires or pipes without having to arm yourself with a hammer drill and other heavy construction tools.

2. Insulation can be easily laid under the subfloor.

3. When screed wet or dry floors, a lot of dirt and dust is produced. What can not be said about the device of the rough floor.

Plus, wood is an environmentally friendly material.

It remains a mystery to me why no one wants to do a rough floor today. Sometimes I come across the fact that people are laying plywood on the floor - but this is completely different.

I installed a sub-floor on every floor of the house and have never regretted it. I note that it didn't cost me a lot of money. I wonder if I'm the only one left? Or are there any more fans of rough wooden floors?
