Why did I regret building a two-story house after listening to my wife. All the cons and cons.

When we were just planning to build our own house, I could not decide whether it would be one-story or two-story. Naturally, a lot of information about this has been read. Many people who have built houses with their own hands are in favor of one-story buildings. But I decided not to believe other people's experience. Oh, how in vain! Here's my sad story.

This is how it looked at us at the construction stage before finishing.

To my great regret, I decided to heed my wife's advice. She convinced me that a two-story house is stylish, fashionable, comfortable and practical. Allegedly, we will have a spacious living room below, and a bedroom upstairs. Now I can say with confidence that there can be no question of any convenience.

I strongly recommend everyone to build only one-story houses! I will explain in more detail.

1. Insulating walls on the second floor is a hassle

At first glance, it may seem that cotton wool does not weigh so much, and therefore it is completely easy to lift it to the second floor. My attic is made with bevels, when I pushed the insulation into the walls, construction dust and any debris flew into my eyes. However, even this was not the most terrible thing. When I insulated the space above the stairs with cotton wool, I had to demonstrate "miracles of acrobatics." In general, the body ached after such exercises for a very long time.

2. The process of decorating external walls is significantly complicated

As a rule, one-story houses are built no higher than 3 meters. Those. one section of scaffolding is enough to carry out the exterior decoration of all walls. Our miracle house is almost 9 meters high! I needed three sections of scaffolding, and then I got to some places with great difficulty. Finishing the walls took me a lot of time and, naturally, no less nerves were spent.

Of course, you don't have to bother and just hire a team of builders. But this is a significant blow to the family budget. When money is scarce, you have to do everything yourself.

3. Roofing was a real challenge for me

Just the other day I had to install ventilation. I climbed under the ridge of the roof to screw the "fungus" onto the pipe. You know, I felt like a "spider-man". Sitting at the height of the second floor is a bit breathtaking. If we had a house on one floor, then the maximum height from the ceiling to the ridge would be 2 meters. I think you get where I am heading!

Maybe two-story houses have some significant advantages. But, in my opinion, they all pale in comparison with the complexity of the independent structure of such buildings. If you entrust this business to professionals, then no difficulties will arise. And those who can only rely on their own strength will have a hard time.
