Maybe I'm too nervous, or maybe this problem annoys many, but I'm tired of wiping condensate from cold water pipes. Naturally, you can simply ignore the drops. But moisture does not bring anything good to pipes, they can deteriorate and fail from this.
If condensation constantly appears on the pipe, it will turn black over time. The room where this "sweating" pipe is located will be filled with fungi, dangerous bacteria and viruses. After all, all these microorganisms feel great and multiply actively in a damp, warm and dark environment.
Agree, no one wants to find mold and mildew in their toilet or bathroom. In addition, when spores of parasites penetrate the human body, they can provoke the occurrence of serious illnesses.
To deal with a problem, you first need to understand its root causes. Why do the pipes "sweat"? This happens under the following circumstances:
- 1. There is a strong temperature difference in the room, i.e. air and pipe temperatures are different.
- 2. The room is excessively humid.
Condensation on pipes is a common problem in apartments located in old buildings. If the cold water pipe is located near the ventilation hole, it will "sweat" with enviable regularity.
In such a situation, it is extremely difficult to exclude the root cause, because all the moisture from the bathroom gets into the toilet through the ventilation hole.
Residents of such apartments are trying to dismantle metal pipes and put polypropylene pipes in their place. But even such a radical solution cannot fundamentally eliminate the problem.
You can reduce the temperature drop by insulating pipes. For these purposes, foamed, preferably foil-clad polyethylene is often used. Also a good insulation is penofol. Condensation from the pipes will disappear for good if a fan appears on the hood in the room.
Thanks to these methods, you can permanently get rid of high humidity in the room. As a result, water droplets will never appear on the drainpipes again.
