"Bears love honey very much" - says the phrase from the famous Soviet cartoon. But not only bears, for example, my household is also crazy about this sweet substance. Unfortunately, today it has become difficult to buy truly high-quality and natural honey.

How much honey can you collect from one hive if you install it on the site? Is it profitable or not

And this is despite the fact that there are a lot of hives in the suburbs. In our city, a honey fair is held annually, where various types of honey are presented. But finding an option that would really suit me is extremely problematic.

Unscrupulous sellers talk about the quality and miraculous properties of their product. And their honey just tastes like candied jam.

Today everything is counterfeited, including honey. At the fair you can find confiture, sugar syrups, and whipped honey. But where can you find a quality product?

Then my family and I began to think about how to independently get our favorite sweet. To do this, you need to put at least one hive on the site. We don't need much!

Weigh all the pros and cons, and calculate.

  • 1. In our region, a good family of bees that can produce honey costs about 4.5 - 5.5 thousand rubles. If the price is cheaper, the specimens are probably weak and sick.

  • 2. Naturally, you need to buy a smoker and a special suit. It will cost about 3 thousand.

So, the initial costs cost 8 - 8.5 thousand rubles.

From one hive for a season, you can collect about 10 -12 kilograms of honey. It turns out up to 50 kilograms per year. Sometimes it doesn't work to pump out all the honey, and sometimes the frames are not completely filled.

What problems will novice beekeepers face?

  • 1. A honey extractor is needed to pump out the sweet product. If the entire hive is on the site, the purchase of this device is not economically justified. Therefore, honey will need to be passed through cheesecloth. The process is long and tedious.
  • 2. Site neighbors may be unhappy. Many are afraid of bees, and therefore will begin to make claims.
  • 3. To preserve bees, it is necessary to prepare a ventilated room, for example, an attic or basement. Otherwise, their entire family will die.
  • 4. Before introducing insects, you must consult with knowledgeable people. In addition, it is desirable to have a person ready to provide assistance and answer all questions at any time of the day or night.
On reflection, we decided that there are more problems than benefits. We came to the conclusion that it is much easier and more profitable to look for someone you know who is engaged in the production of honey and buy a product from him.

Of course, if you have a lot of free time, energy and patience, you can try it! I would like to hear feedback from those who have one hive on the site.
