Many people who are interested in Japan have noticed that there is practically no furniture in their apartments. This is unusual for us, because there is nowhere to put our things. If you look at the rooms of the Japanese, you will find only a bed and a desk from the furniture. There are no closets or wardrobes. But where do they put their things?
Do not think that these are some kind of superstitions of this nationality. They are there, but they do not affect the furniture. It's all about minimalism. The Japanese have it everywhere. They will never buy themselves unnecessary things to keep in the closet for years and never wear.
If only one person lives in the apartment, then he does not have a large set of cutlery. Only the essentials. 2 plates, mug, fork and spoon. If something has become unusable, the Japanese immediately throw it away and buy a new one. The same goes for the bathroom. There are not a huge number of shower gels and shampoos out there.
Even the smallest apartment seems large and bright. This is all due to the lack of furniture. The Japanese have a negative attitude towards curtains. They are considered to be unnecessary dust collectors. Therefore, they have nothing on the windows, or they weigh small blinds.
But don't think that Japan has no furniture at all. It is there, only in a minimal amount. For example, the kitchen has cabinets with built-in household appliances. It is very convenient and economical. There are special wicker baskets under the bed where you can store things or bed linen. There are also small wardrobes.
But many Japanese people don't like it. They want to make their apartment furnished, but they are afraid of possible earthquakes. Therefore, they have to live by the past concepts to which they are so much accustomed.
Personally, I really like the Japanese approach to things. They even have a saying - if a thing is not used for a year, then it should be thrown away. Do you think the Japanese are doing the right thing?
