How to quickly and easily remove the chuck from the screwdriver

The other day a friend called me, and began a conversation with a question:

- Hello! You. Do you happen to know how the cartridge is removed from the screwdriver? I've been suffering for an hour now, I can't take it off.

I had experience with this procedure, so I answered:

No sooner said than done. And now I have a friend. When he saw how I easily removed the cartridge from his screwdriver, his surprise knew no bounds.

There is nothing unusual in this method, it is not new, but many are not familiar with it. So let's start in order ...

I will show you using my old screwdriver as an example, which is almost 7 years old. His batteries are still nickel-cadmium, so they are already a little alive. But I have it for every fireman, and at times comes in handy.

For this method, disassembly of the screwdriver is not required.

To work we need:

  • CruciformI screwdriver;
  • Any hex from 6 to 12 mm;

First you need to dilute the so-called "rusks" of the cartridge.

After that, looking inside the chuck, you will find a Phillips screwdriver screw in the chuck. In all models of the screwdriver, it has a left-hand thread, so you need to unscrew it to the right side (clockwise).

They unscrewed this screw, took it out and put it aside.

Now taking the prepared hexagon, we clamp it into the chuck. I took an 8 mm hexagon.

Put the screwdriver on a table or on the floor, press it down with one hand. And we sharply hit the other on the hexagon.

The thread there is ordinary, right-hand. Having thus ripped off the cartridge from its place, then we easily unscrew it.

That's the whole procedure for removing the cartridge.) It only took a few minutes.
