Bath dreams have visited me for a long time. The baths of friends, who served as “walking” motivators for me for several years, added fuel to the fire. With your eternal questions "When, Mish, will you build your own steam room?"The clock is ticking, of course.
God gave a lawn too. Nothing to do, in 2018 I started working on a general concept. I drew a plan, by the fall I had purchased materials - the business went even faster than I expected.
The foundation was set according to the "grillage" type. I took a d-150 drill (for the first time in my life, please note), made holes along the perimeter and lintels, removed excess soil, put the formwork and poured it on top.
When ordering concrete, he changed his principles and nevertheless used the help of hired workers. I wouldn’t be able to pull four cubes of concrete in a wheelbarrow alone. So they worked together - they gave a lift, I poured. For everything about all 5 hours (+ 2-3 smoke breaks).
The frame pleasantly surprised me - I never thought that I would install this structure in one weekend. I collected it in a place with temporary jibs, since I worked alone. I must say right away that if you have helpers, it is better to assemble the walls “on the ground” and install them ready-made. It is both faster and easier. And we, as you know, are not looking for simple ways.
I conceived an unassuming roof - a lean-to and low one. It won't interfere with the neighbors, and it's even easier for me to assemble such a structure. During construction, rafters 50 * 150 and a support bar 100 * 100 were needed. At this stage, I made an offensive mistake - not constructive, but simply stupid. In the process of covering the roof with a roof, it dawned on me that I got a diamond.
This happened due to the fact that I sewed the rafters to the 50-mm rafters and to the 100-mm support bars. I paid bitterly for the mistake - I had to call the mercenaries again and spend my hard earned money. There was no other way out. The insulation was waiting for its finest hour, I planned to finish the roof until next Monday.
Another "surprise" awaited me when laying the floors. The fault was again my inattention, seasoned with impatience. When calculating floorboards for a rest room, I used the autocad, as an advanced person and in general a professional.
The only pity is that the professionalism was not enough to take the boards into account for the rough floor. Woe to me, if not my neighbor in the country, who at that time was busy dismantling the old house. So don't believe in magic coincidences after that.
I completed the construction in the spring of 2019. I know that people on the forums can do it in just a couple of days, but the process took me pretty long. The bath keeps heat perfectly. Even in a 30-degree frost, “disperse” the steam room to 30 degrees is a feasible mission. In the coldest months, 7-8 birch logs are used for kindling.
Instead of stones, I use jadeite, it keeps the heat as it should. The first to try the steam room were my fellow bath attendants, who spent so much effort on persuasion. The test run went with a bang, no one even died.
After the first successful test, I realized that you can lead a family to the bathhouse without any fear, and I was not mistaken. The eldest son mastered the upper shelves with great pleasure.
The wife spends 10-15 minutes in the steam room, despite her dislike for high temperatures. For ourselves, we have developed a filigree formula for a comfortable microclimate - 85 degrees Celsius + steam supply up to 35% humidity.
