Features of the layout
The standard bath project 4 * 4 meters consists of three rooms:
- rest room (takes over the functions of a dressing room and changing room);
- steam room with a stove;
- washing room.
Thanks to the placement of the stove in the steam room, heat is supplied to the dressing room, which comes from the wall adjacent to the steam room. If desired, the stove can be placed in the washing room - the choice depends on the layout of the building. As an addition to the bath, you can add a terrace, as shown in the diagram. A space of 1.5 * 4 meters will be enough to accommodate a table and chairs. The terrace is intended for relaxation after the steam room in the summer season.
To distribute the interior space of a square bath into rooms, it is recommended to divide it into two parts. One half will be occupied by the recreation room (where you can store firewood and bath accessories). The second half is again divided into two equal parts, which are allocated for the steam room and the washroom.
The washroom and the steam room do not have to be the same size. Experience shows that in many saunas a large area is allocated to the steam room, since the main "action" takes place there. They try to make the washing room as compact as possible. It is enough for a shower room and (optionally) a toilet bowl to fit in this room.
How to calculate the size of the steam room
The heart of any bath is the steam room. Not only ease of use depends on its proper location, but also the safety of visitors. When creating a steam room, the following criteria must be considered:
- construction and finishing materials;
- ventilation system;
- the number of people who regularly visit the bathhouse;
- furnace power and heat transfer;
- Fire safety;
- placement of shelves.
One of the central issues in the construction of a bath is the design of the shelves. The first thing to decide is whether the shelves will be recumbent. If the answer is yes, but their dimensions will be at least 90 * 180 centimeters.
Not every bath can boast of such spacious steam rooms, so you often have to stop at seated options. The length of such shelves is determined based on the dimensions of the steam room, and the width is approximately half a meter.
What material to choose for interior decoration
For the interior decoration of the bath, wood is best suited. It is important to understand that each breed behaves differently at high temperatures. Therefore, the following options are best suited for construction:
- Linden;
- cedar;
- hardwoods;
- abashi;
- aspen.
It is not recommended to use pine for these purposes, since it does not tolerate temperature extremes well and quickly deforms due to its softness.
Birch is also a dubious option. - despite its density, it can withstand only in dry rooms. An increase in moisture levels threatens to rot for this breed.
The boards do not need to be covered before sheathing. Any paint and varnish materials become toxic when heated. Natural wood is able to "breathe" in hot conditions and release essential oils that flavor the room.
