We went to a bath with tiled floors: who invented such a thing?

  • Dec 10, 2020

On New Year's holidays, my wife and I (according to the canons of Soviet cinema) love to go to the bathhouse. Sometimes we make the first "sorties" already in December, but this year the winter with frosts began later, so we postponed it. After moving to a new area, we faced a serious question of finding a new bath. I didn't want to go to the public one, and private steam rooms have the most polarized reviews, which made me guesswork.

After a long search, I was able to stop at an establishment that was located next to our house. It is a separate two-storey building, combining a sauna and a small spa. There are standard rates in the bathhouse - a day visit is cheaper than a night one.

With a visit for many hours, a discount is made, but we did not need it. The renovation in the steam room was done in such a way that I wanted to leave much earlier than the paid time. What joy awaited us in this beautiful sauna, I dedicate today's post.

Everything for clients

For the first time I came across the fact that in the bathhouse the floor was laid not with wooden boards, but with tiles. Yes, the tiles can be easy to clean, but for visitors they are a real threat to life. Even in public pools, the slippery surfaces were covered with rubber mats. But in this bath we acted solely at our own peril and risk. The result was not long in coming - I was lucky to get a couple of bruises on my knees. The wife got off with a slight fright.

The whole atmosphere of the "sauna" left much to be desired. It immediately shows that all this was done not for people, but for cutting money. The benches are set high - only a person who is very dexterous and has an excellent stretch can climb on them. If you think about slippery tiles, it becomes doubly fun.

The dim lighting does not add comfort either - one single lantern seemed to me barely alive. His light was not even enough to properly illuminate the thermometer. I had to periodically get up and go up to him to monitor the indicators.

Perfection in detail

The service of the bath we have chosen is just greetings from the 90s. They will take money for everything, if they want - even for air. They offer to pay for literally everything - from dressing gowns and slippers to plates and knives. What caused such a repulsive pricing policy is not clear to me, except perhaps the insanity of the manager. As a result, the three hours that we spent in the bath did not cost the planned 3,000 rubles, but 5,300.

To the pleasant impressions of the steam room, you should add shabby walls, aged benches and a shower that works "according to the mood." All this can be expected to be seen in a public bath for a much lower price.

But in a private establishment, such negligence seems completely unreasonable, if you remember the price list. Well, a sad experience is also an experience. From now on I will look for a more accurate bath or organize my own on the balcony
