Beer in the sauna: healthy or not? Consider the benefits and harms

  • Dec 10, 2020

Beer is one of the first drinks that comes to mind when thinking about a sauna. All experienced bath attendants know the doctor's ban on alcohol in the steam room, but you still want to get around it. Foam becomes a compromise - it has a small degree, therefore it does not dehydrate the body, as vodka does it. Some people are completely convinced that beer is healthy - it helps sweat and restore water balance.

But the reality remains unyielding - the use of any alcohol in the bath endangers health. For young people with a strong cardiovascular system, a couple of beers go unnoticed. But if you turn such a pastime into a tradition, then poor health will hasten to declare itself. The myth that alcohol is able to heal the body becomes dangerous in high temperature conditions.

The main trick is that beer belongs to low-alcohol drinks. You don't notice how you drink liter after liter and gradually get drunk. A standard half-liter can of beer contains 20 grams of pure alcohol - 50 grams of vodka can hold the same amount.

After two liters of foam, 200 grams of alcohol appears in the bathhouse attendant's body and he ceases to feel the measure.

The consequences of intoxication

After the bath attendant has taken a steam bath with the help of beer, he may encounter several unpleasant symptoms:

  • increased load on the liver: in the bath it is easier to "snatch away" alcoholic intoxication against the background of increased sweating and refusal of the liver from its direct duties. The result of a fun pastime will be nausea and vomiting;
  • increased lung volume: the increase occurs due to the relaxation of the diaphragm. Due to the fact that alcoholic vapors have a low oxygen content, such obsessive manifestations as hiccups, drowsiness and shortness of breath occur;
  • rapid accumulation of ethyl alcohol in the blood: slow kidney function leads to a sharp increase in blood alcohol content. The person is not aware of what is happening, which is why the intoxication of the body occurs, accompanied by dizziness and vomiting;
  • vasodilation: the ability of alcohol to dilate blood vessels is known to everyone. For people with a weak cardiovascular system, drinking beer can result in fainting or even rupture of blood vessels, followed by a stroke.

If drinking beer does not lead to one of the above symptoms, it will affect the braking processes. Impaired coordination in the bath becomes dangerous. One wrong move can cause burns or injury. The steam room is the place where you should always be on the lookout.

Still, beer can be used in the steam room. For passionate lovers of foam, there is a method of using the drink. It is diluted with water and occasionally sprinkled on the heater.

As a result, the bathhouse is filled with a pleasant bread aroma, which is absolutely safe for health.
