A bathhouse in an apartment is the dream of many city dwellers. It is quite possible to implement it if the area allows. When building a "home" bath, the focus is on insulation for safety reasons.

Electricity supply

The main problem with conducting electricity is voltage - it may not be enough for a small electric furnace. To provide the bath with electricity, a separate line is made from the dashboard to the bathroom (or another room where you decided to put a steam room).

If you have an electric stove in your apartment, the power of which is equivalent to the power of the stove, then it is enough to draw an additional line from the kitchen. The line is drawn along the walls in a special tray.

Furnace selection

For safety reasons, electric ovens are bought in special stores with appropriate documents. Models from unknown manufacturers are cheaper, but may be defective and life-threatening. Today, models from German and Finnish manufacturers are popular. They are compact and equipped with a convenient heater basket.

Warming

Felt fiber or basalt slabs are suitable for warming the steam room. The amount of material is determined by the area of the walls. The work is performed in the following order:

1. Attach a 40 * 40 mm lathing from a wooden bar to the walls and ceiling. The standard lathing pitch is half a meter. For the material to be well fixed, it is recommended to reduce the step by 1-2 centimeters;

2. Attach the battens first from the corners, then along the walls and along the ceiling. In the process of work, use doubles (not made of wood) and plastic plugs. On the wall next to the canopy, mount the bars vertically - a bulge and horizontally between the main ones;

3. Place insulation in the space between the battens. Pull the line in a zigzag pattern on the ceiling and place insulation material for a firm hold.

Instead of insulation for walls, it is allowed to use cork panels with a thermal insulation function. In terms of their functions, shields are not inferior to mineral wool. The surface area is 100 * 50 centimeters.

Waterproofing

Foil materials are used to protect the walls and ceiling of the bath from moisture. The foil is attached over the lathing. A construction stapler is used to work with a wooden crate. Joints and attachment points are processed using metallized adhesive tape. Foil insulation performs three functions at once:

  • heat reflection;
  • protection against water;
  • additional insulation.

Over the foil, the walls and ceiling are sheathed with wooden clapboard. To ensure ventilation, a gap is left between the casing and waterproofing layer - 2-3 centimeters. It can be made using a counter-lattice made of bars with a smaller section.

Floor laying

At the first stage, the bath floor is treated with waterproofing. The further procedure depends on the type of coverage:

  • a self-leveling floor is equipped for ceramics (self-leveling cement screed);
  • logs of bars are laid under the tree and fixed on top with a floorboard;
  • foil insulation is laid under the boards to enhance thermal insulation.
To reduce heat loss, infrared or electrical coatings are used. Underfloor heating minimizes heat loss and speeds up the heating process.

Canopy

Not every sauna allows you to lay the canopy. Therefore, when building, you need to take into account the height of the ceilings. The canopy takes up to 10 centimeters. If the height of the walls in the steam room is sufficient, then the canopy is attached to the wall with long dowels. Additional strength is created with bars - they are attached to the wall and from wall to floor.

If the ceilings in the bathhouse are low, there is an alternative option - to make a bench. The work is carried out after finishing the walls and ceiling space. In the process, it is important to remember about the need to hide the caps of the metal fasteners, as they heat up at high temperatures.
