An old lady neighbor thrust a nondescript sprout with three leaves into my hands. It turned into one of my favorite flowers in the house.

The old woman did not deceive. Very soon "Cinderella" - a nondescript wand turned into a real "princess" - a magnificent flower, strewn with bright flowers of intricate shape. It was only necessary to plant (root) the "stick" in the ground for two and a half weeks.

Blossfeld's Kalanchoe really quickly became my favorite flower. Not requiring special attention to itself, it blooms almost all year round.

Simple rules

The minimum care for the Kalanchoe is regular but moderate watering and loosening of the soil. Stagnant water for a plant is destructive - the roots very quickly begin to rot and the flower dies.

Our "king of the windowsill" will not refuse delicious "desserts" in the form of mineral fertilizers. I buy a special food for cacti and succulents.

And for a "royal look" (to enhance branching), I gently pinch the tops.

Since Blossfeld's Kalanchoe is a southern inhabitant of the island of Madagascar, it loves heat and humid air at the same time. Even in winter, the air temperature should be above 18 degrees.

At a lower one, it may not die, but in this case you should not count on flowering.

Why doesn't it bloom?

In addition to the low temperature, Kalanchoe can refuse to bloom for two more reasons:

  • Lack of light. This southern plant is very fond of light, so keeping it on the northern windowsills is not reasonable.
  • An overabundance of light. Rather, the length of daylight hours. The same case when "too good is also not good." If the pot is on the south side of the house, the daylight hours are too long. In the afternoon, I cover it with a paper cap.

Paradoxically, the closer the Kalanchoe's "apartment", the more abundantly it blooms. In a large container, all the plant's strength goes into greenery and growth.

Unlike other residents of my "garden windowsills", there is only one month rest between Blossfeld blooms. During the "holidays" I continue the "cap mode" and "feed tastier".

It's still time to transplant a plant. I did it just yesterday.

By the way! I almost forgot to ask you to view a funny gif photo (below) :)

I invite you with all my heart - I am glad to see you! :) Put your fingers up, I will be very pleased. 😊And also I look forward to seeing you on my new website."4 SEASONS OF THE GARDENER
