I read a lot of articles on the Internet that you can sharpen blunt Gillette tapes. To be honest, I did not trust this information, and never even tried to bring these ideas to life.
And I need to shave every day, at least for me. And every man will understand me how unpleasant it is to shave if the cassette with blades is dull. About any smooth shave, in this case, and can not be discussed. You tear your facial hair, it hurts, tears are already flowing. But you continue to do this, as long as possible to shave with one cassette, even if it is stupid, because the prices for them, I would say "from the plane."
In general, ideally, I have enough one cassette to shave with pleasure for two weeks, despite the fact that I shave every day. But I try, through unpleasant sensations, to extend the life of the cassette at least up to a month, and then I can't stand it anymore, I insert a new one, and I shave, even while enjoying it!
But now, after having received confirmation of the method of sharpening the blades of the Gillette cassette on jeans, from the official representative of the company, I decided to try it. And to be honest, I was a "silly fellow" for not sharpening blade cassettes before. Of course, it cannot be said that they become absolutely "like new", but a sharpened cassette with blades is enough for a week for a smooth shave.
But the best thing is that you don't need to run to the store and buy new cassettes, I again sharpen the one that I already sharpened. Moreover, this event takes no more than 10 minutes.
Now I'll tell you how I do it. For many, this probably will not be news, but maybe someone does not know, and I will help someone save money on buying new, far from cheap cassettes with razor blades.
To sharpen a cassette with blades, we will need, respectively, the shaving machine itself, a foil sleeve, jeans (old, new, it doesn't matter), or the most ordinary piece of fabric from jeans.
The trick is that the blades are sharpened with jeans from the wrong side, and to make it easier to do, we will use a foil sleeve.
First, we turn the jeans inside out, insert the sleeve into the leg, cover it with denim, insert the cassette with blades into the machine.
This is where the preparatory activities ended. Then we take the machine into a kuru, and begin to rub with a cassette with blades on the seamy side of the denim from ourselves. So you need to spend 30 times. Then, we also draw 30 times along the seamy side of the denim, but in a different direction, that is, towards ourselves.
That's all, the blades in the cassette are sharpened.
Thus, I extend the life of the blade cassette up to 3-4 months. To be honest, this is a significant savings. Now shaving is a pleasure for me, I shave smoothly, and not pulling out the hair on my face.
