Where are the old shoes? Where are the sledges or boxes with old toys? And such questions can be asked a huge number. They have only one answer - a loggia. How does this small area hold so many old, but "very necessary" things?
Loggias in most cases function as a pantry or a place where clothes are dried. But in modern design there are so many ways and options for their design in cozy lounges, study rooms or winter gardens. If there is a desire to equip this room, you need to start with insulation and only then carry out design fantasies.
Balcony frame
Check the balcony frame before starting work. As far as it is functional and will help keep warm in winter, maybe there is a need to update it. And if there is no frame at all, then of course you need to install it.
Floor
Repair of the balcony must begin with floor insulation. If the floor is made of ceramic tiles, then it is better to install a floor heating system under it. Insulate, possibly with the help of high density expanded polystyrene plates, on top of them perform screed and leveling work, and only then lay the floor covering.
Walls
We clean the walls from the previous finish. We close up the opened cracks. It is possible to insulate both with mineral wool in mats and with foam. Under the mineral wool, it is necessary to build a frame of bars or profiles, so that the distance between the bars is along the width of the material, and it fits tightly without gaps.
It is recommended to cover the cotton with a vapor barrier membrane. Be sure to leave a gap for ventilation between the film and the finishing material. For these purposes, the bar for the frame is chosen 2 cm more than the thickness of the insulation. Or a rail is stuffed up. Plasterboard sheets are hung on the finished base of the bars. The joints are closed up, and the entire surface is putty.
It has high thermal conductivity and foam. There are several options for insulation with its help. One is laying it in a frame made of slats on mounting foam. When using a frame, further stitching is carried out, as with mineral wool. No vapor barrier film is required.
But there is another way. For this, the material is fixed on the surface of the walls with the help of special glue in order to avoid cases with peeling in during the operation of the entire insulation system, it is better to fix the foam with dowels, the so-called "Fungi". Then the first layer of plaster is applied, a reinforcing plastic mesh is rubbed into it, and then the second layer of plaster. After drying and priming the finished surface, decoration can be applied.
Ceiling
Ceiling insulation is not required. We refine it with plasterboard filing or other material. Or you can simply putty the irregularities, prime and paint.
After warming and further decorative finishing, the loggia becomes an equivalent room where it is pleasant to spend leisure time with a cup of coffee or doing what you love in a comfortable environment.
