Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of the "Build for Myself" channel!
We purchased a plot with an old house about 3 years ago. The site was chosen with the condition not to rent a house, but to live and build a new house in one place without unnecessary movements.
The sewerage system of the old house was led into a drain pit, which was located in the backyard, where, in fact, the whole garden: pears, apple trees, plums and other fruit trees.
And since the plans were to build a new house right in the back of the yard, the sewage system needed to be redone. Therefore, I made a two-chamber septic tank near the entrance to the site, brought pipes to it from the old house and laid it in advance the sewerage system is already for a new house, and the old drain hole was drained, covered with earth and started construction houses.
A year later, my wife and I noticed that the yield of all fruit trees dropped significantly, but did not attach any importance to this, since the season is different.
Now it is already the 3rd year of living in this place, and after this time it becomes clear that the fruit trees were dependent on the drain pit, guesses about which was confirmed by an experienced gardener, whom we met thanks to my channel "Build for Myself" (we corresponded for a long time, and then met)
The fact is that the pit already existed at the time when the trees were planted and they are already 10 years old. while the hole was dug in the 90s.
In the process of formation, the root system of trees has adapted to the conditions of surface feeding. By intervening in the system and removing the source of feeding, we deprived the fruit trees of their usual nutrition. They did not have time to reconfigure the feeding system for the changed chemical composition of the soil.
When the soil is saturated with moisture, the root system always forms shallow from the surface (20-50 cm. from ground level), as there is enough food for the trees here.
But, having lost the usual soil saturated with water, the root on the surface was no longer able to fully scoop nutrients from land, and in order to rebuild the power system and go deeper to groundwater, the tree needs more than one year, since the annual growth of the root small.
So, in fact, it turns out that the yield in the first year fell almost twice, and in the third year - we see a problem: if the foliage has not yet been shed, then the fruits clearly lack nutrients for growth.
If the plum somehow survives, then not a single apple comes from the apple tree this year.
Now we are thinking about how to save trees and how to fertilize (((
I hope the article was useful to you. Thanks for attention!
