Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of my channel!
Friends, I have always dreamed of having a beautiful porch in the house, and finally, the dream began to come true ...
In the middle of summer, I finished the stone steps and a little later, we ordered a wrought-iron canopy. I'm not an expert in blacksmithing, but my wife and I roughly drew a sketch, which we emailed to several companies involved in artistic forging. The price varied quite a bit between them and we made an order to one of these offices. In view of the influx of clients after self-isolation, the blacksmith told us that he would do the shed within a month - we agreed, I paid 48,000 rubles and my soul was calm. In a month, my porch was supposed to be ready!
The order included:
- Canopy for the main entrance door;
- Backyard exit door canopy;
- Porch railings.
In fact, we have waited 2 months. And only recently they brought us an order, the assembly of the elements of which I did during the next day.
As I said, for 2 months I was fed breakfast and pulled rubber, I knocked out the location of the workshop from the manager and went straight there.
At first, I was simply not allowed through the door, but after explaining my situation at the entrance, I was allowed to go inside. How surprised I was when I saw the workshop for the first time. I explain: in my understanding, forging is a painstaking and physically complex process, where there are attributes such as a furnace or any other the machine that heats the metal is the blacksmith, which gives the red-hot metal - the shape, of course, through its tools.
But, I saw only 10 welders, two painters and one shop manager and huge pallets of forged forged elements of the conveyor production. What is it like? Artistic forging?
There is a shop at the shop that also sells forged products, see:
As I found out from the seller, of course, this is all a semi-finished product, machine stamping, everything is minimized and there is no human labor as such.
Each item costs 30, 40, 100 rubles. The elements are welded together, cleaned with a grinder, covered with a primer and auto enamel. Everything! That's all artistic forging. Or art welding ?!
There are more complicated items, costing from 100 to 400 rubles, and all this is purchased in bulk at factories. Class!!! Any elements, taste, color and any wallet! Choose what Hosh!
It becomes very sad somehow. Since I still needed to make the railings for the interfloor stairs, I bought 20 pieces. such products:
This one element cost 180 rubles, I need 20 pieces for the stairs, I spent in the end - 3,600 rubles for everything. Do you know how much they announced to me for the finished railing? They calculated me 5200 rubles per running meter or for my 9 meters - it would cost 47,000 rubles. No, I myself will weld and paint for the difference of 40,000.
What do you think, only, please, objectively, can welding and paint cost 40,000 rubles? just 9 running meters? I think not, maximum 15 - 20 tr. with work. The rest is blatant margin!
From the author
I do not want to offend anyone, neither welders nor blacksmiths. I am sure and 100% convinced that not everyone works this way, but what he saw just turned the worldview about the real profession - a blacksmith! Now it's called that, welded stamped elements - you are a professional blacksmith, damn it! No, this is a professional welder. I believe that it is not necessary to engage in substitution of concepts and professions.
Thank you for taking a few minutes, I think it was interesting for you to look behind the scenes :-)
