We moved to a new house a couple of months ago and on the nose - the first winter, which will be able to fully experience a self-assembled heating system.
As for the windows, their installation was carried out about 1.5 years ago. During this period, they were very battered during the repair: all drainage channels and seals were clogged with construction dust, plaster, etc. After washing off all the dirt, we found that half of the windows did not open / close normally, and some of them, for reasons unknown to me, had hinges sagging.
And, since the windows are still under warranty and their adjustment is included in the contract for at least 3 years in advance, I called a specialist to adjust the fittings.
It came as a surprise to me that the company would react rather quickly and the master was with me in 4 days. Having configured all the locks, he showed how to change the modes of operation of PVC windows, which I want to share with you.
So, a change in the operating mode is nothing more than a change in the degree of adherence of the window sash to the PVC frame due to the adjusting pins. This measure allows to eliminate the draft between the frame and the sash due to the fact that in winter the rubber seal is compressed and forms a small gap.
The fit is adjusted by means of eccentrics and for this 3 steps are performed:
1. Location of eccentrics
We open the sash and find all the eccentrics (pins) on it.
Below in the illustration, I use arrows to indicate the places where they are located. Their number can be any, depending on the design and size of the window.
2. Trunnion adjustment
With a hexagon, screwdriver or special. turn the eccentric key. The turn is carried out in any direction. The pivot has no stop and rotates freely around its center.
The fit check is performed after each trunnion has been rotated 45 degrees.
We changed the position of all eccentrics - checked the fit. If it is not enough, they still crank it and so on until the flap is firmly pressed against the frame.
The tightness can be fixed with a regular piece of paper.

3. Check
In winter operation, you will notice that the window handle will move stiffly due to the tighter joint.
Below in the photo, I projected the "winter" position of the eccentric when fixing the window in the locks.

If in the autumn or winter period the joint remains windproof, then there is no need for adjustment. If you feel a slight blowing along the joint or see an uneven fit in any area, then it is better to adjust, then the heat loss at home will be much lower.
