Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of the "Build for Myself" channel!

Laminate has recently been gaining popularity due to its price and installation speed. In addition, now there are technologies for manufacturing laminated boards, which practically do not use harmful chemicals in production.

By purchasing a laminate, any person wants not only beauty and comfort in the house, but also the practicality of the flooring. Choosing a color - we are more and more inclined to ensure that less dust is visible on the floor, choosing an embossing - we want to feel the natural texture of the wood under our feet, we give the advantage of wear-resistant classes, so that the material serves as long as possible, but an important characteristic of the laminate is the presence of a chamfer, which brings its own characteristics to product design.

In this article, I will give arguments in favor of products with the presence of a chamfer:

1. Whatever the cost of the laminate and no matter how carefully you treat it, always after a certain period of time - between gaps appear with laminated boards and there are many reasons, including: temperature drops, wear of locks or uneven floor geometry.

So, the chamfer always hides this drawback due to the volumetric appearance of the coating.

2. If the floor has been waterlogged, then a laminate without a bevel will immediately let you know about it:

With a board that has a chamfer, this will also happen, but visually this will not be visible at all due to the absence of edge scuffing.

3. If the manufacturer cheated with the quality of the laminate without a chamfer, then inevitably, after several years of operation, the edges begin to rise and chip off. Further, this leads to endless hooks on the doormat when cleaning, socks and arrows on the wife's tights :-))) In addition, dirt will collect in such areas. The chamfer protects the edges from chipping.

4. Depending on the type of installation, beveled laminate flooring expands the room, especially when installed diagonally.

5. And lastly, the laminate is designed to imitate wood, and wood is a noble floor. The chamfer serves to highlight the individual "solid" boards with an individual pattern and makes the finish premium.

Myths:
1. Dirt will accumulate in the grooves of the chamfer.
Rather, it is an invention of manufacturers of laminated boards without processed edges, or is it people say, who have never encountered a chamfer and did the last cleaning 5 years ago :-) Everything is fine washes.
2. Beveled laminate flooring is more prone to swelling when exposed to water, as it stagnates in the recess.
All joints are covered with a water-repellent compound, and a low-density laminate is more susceptible to swelling, but this is already another characteristic that you also need to pay attention to!

That's all, thank you for your attention and I really hope that the article was useful to you!
