Stumbled upon an epic story.

On April 1, 2020 in the city of Belozersk, Vologda Oblast, the emergency situation was lifted, introduced due to an unsuccessfully drilled well, from which water gushed for nine months and no one could stop.

A resident of the Leningrad region bought an old wooden house in Belozersk. In early July 2019, she called the crew to drill a well. When 20 meters were drilled, the well began to gush. The drillers were able to only partially plug the well and quickly left.

It took a month to find the masters who undertook to plug the well. All this time, water was pouring out of it. Flooded neighboring areas.

In August, new craftsmen tore open the old plug, but could not install a new one. The district administration announced an emergency regime in the city. They dug a canal from the well to the street drainage ditches, through which water began to drain into the Bypass Canal.

The government of the Vologda region announced that it will provide financial assistance to the Belozersky district in the work to eliminate the emergency and at the end of September an attempt was made to kill the well using the tamponing. The attempt was unsuccessful.

On the night from October 1 to October 2, the house partially collapsed into the ground and had to be demolished.

Rumors spread across Belozersk that the place was cursed: an old woman supposedly lived here, who was either a clairvoyant or a witch. The well was nicknamed "hellish". The abbot of the local church held a prayer service at the well. It didn't help either.

The local authorities turned to the Mining University of St. Petersburg, where they came from the assistant professor of the Department of Drilling, the author of several methods for plugging underground waters. In November, two wells were drilled through which 8 tons of grouting mixture was pumped underground, expanding fifty times when interacting with water. As a result, the volume of water coming out of the ground has been halved. At this point, 12 million rubles have already been spent on the fight against the well.

The next attempt to curb the well was made in January 2020. Another 20 tons of sweep and 20 tons of vegetable oil were pumped into the ground. The water coming out of the ground has acquired a pungent smell of hydrogen sulfide.

In March 2020, the well was still won. The hostess was left without a well and without a house. Whether something was recovered from her for the work carried out is not reported.

On April 1, 2020, on "fool's day", the emergency regime was removed in Belozersk.
