Greetings to all metal lovers. Today I'll tell you about my homemade clamp, which I came up with 6 years ago.
In the summer of '14, I cooked my friend a homemade body for Kamaz. In this design, there is a lot of welding of sheet metal to the frame from the shaped tube. Naturally, in order to weld the sheet well and evenly to the frame, it should be well pressed.
I welded the lower sides without any problems, pressed the sheet metal with a homemade clamp, called a crocodile, karkalyga, and there are many more names for this thing. This homemade product is well-known among locksmiths and welders, but this is not about it.
But when the turn came to welding sheet metal to the upper frame, then some device was urgently needed to clamp the whole sheet in height. There are simply no standard factory clamps for this purpose, and that's when I came up with a pedal clamp.
I took the pipe, welded a piece of the channel to the end - this is a hook for the structure frame. A movable sleeve with a clamp runs along this pipe - this part just presses the sheet against the frame. And the pipe ends with a pedal so that you can step with your foot and press.
The clamp proved to be in great demand. After the first bodywork, I always started using it where it was necessary to weld sheet metal to the frame. It also helps a lot when welding garage doors. Several familiar welders, seeing this homemade product at work, made the same for themselves.
Friends, it's better to see it once, watch the video where I show in detail how this clamp works.
