Reproduction by partial bushes

There are two main forms of shrubs - short and tall. Blueberry seedlings are quite expensive on the market, but there are several ways to cultivate blueberries. Both experienced and novice gardeners can handle them.

In the ground, blueberries have shoots, they are called stolons. The buds formed on them give new young layers, they are connected with the mother bush by the rhizome. Shoots for propagation are chosen with a developed root system. At the beginning of spring or autumn, the dug layers are dropped into pots or prepared ridges. This breeding method is suitable for:

  • Ashie;
  • marsh;
  • undersized blueberries.

Reproduction by shoots with part of the rhizome and rhizome segments.

It is important to know, in order not to harm the plant, it should be remembered that the root system of the bush for this must be very well developed. This method is suitable for Esha, undersized, tall and marsh blueberries.

Before preparing the cuttings for planting, it is necessary to make a bed, it must be dug up to a depth of 20 cm, covered with humus. In the excavated soil near mature bushes, use a pruner to separate all healthy layers with a pruner. For cutting, choose cuttings with a young shoot or bud up to 20 cm long. The workpieces should be dipped into water for a day, but the solution with "Kornevina" will be more useful for early rooting. After that, start to properly drop in the cuttings: moisten ten-centimeter grooves, distribute rhizome segments over them so that the bud or shoot is directed upwards. At the end of the furrow, it is necessary to fill up and water abundantly, placing arcs above them, covered with polyethylene and on top of it with spandbond, so that moisture remains and does not get direct sunlight.

A month after planting, monitor the topsoil - it must always be sufficiently moist. As the seedlings take root, you can remove the structure, but water it as the soil dries. Young seedlings may not winter well, so before the frost begins, the beds need to be mulched and covered with spunbond.

Reproduction by layering

This breeding method is more suitable for young blueberry bushes, because the root system is still poorly developed; it will not be possible to dig out good layering. Strong healthy shoots can be bent down and laid in a furrow dug under the length of the shoot 6-8 cm deep, can be fixed with a metal clip so that the branches do not rise, cover with peat and water. This breeding option is very simple, but it takes a lot of time. Only after 2-3 years the plant will be able to fully take root and begin to bear fruit, so few gardeners use this method. But, despite this, the grown bushes turn out to be strong and resistant. This method is suitable for breeding medium and tall blueberries.

Blueberry is a rather unpretentious plant to care for. But the culture does not tolerate the proximity of groundwater. The plant needs to provide acidic soil, drained, moisture-permeable. The bushes love the sun and do not tolerate drafts, so it is better to plant them near the house or along the fence. This plant will be able to decorate the summer cottage with its elegance and beauty of the fruits, the berries really look very original on the branch and have an amazing color.
