OT hybrids of lilies

OT hybrids, or Orienpets, belong to a group of lily varieties that have a hybrid origin. They are included in Section VIII of the 3 edition of the International Register of Lilies. • Donato. The curved petals are red and purple at the edges. Plant height can reach 200 cm.
  • Anastasia. The bent petals are pink in color, along the edges - white. The stem is 120 to 190 cm long.
  • Robin. The purple-red petals are curved. Shoot height is 100-150 cm.

LA hybrids

LA hybrids are the result of crossing long-flowered and Asiatic lilies. The flower size is 18-25 cm. High density and good attachment of the petals prevent damage to them. LA hybrids are grown both in the garden and at home. These varieties tolerate winters well and are considered unpretentious plants. Most often they are red, pink, orange, white. The aroma is slightly perceptible, there are odorless specimens.

Popular varieties of LA hybrids of lilies are:

  • Cogoleto. In the center of pink flowers are red blotches. Plant height is 100 cm.
  • Fangio. The petals are bright scarlet. The stem length is 130 cm.
  • California. Cherry blossom petals. Plant height 110 cm.
  • Ercolano. White inflorescences have a yellow neck. Shoots grow up to 110 cm.
  • Brindisi. Pink flowers with a diameter of 18 cm. The stem length does not exceed 110 cm.

Plants are planted in September and early October. At least a month must pass before the onset of frost for the roots to begin to develop. Also, planting is carried out in the spring. But in this case, the length of the stem may be shorter. Lilies should be planted in dry weather. When it rains, the moisture level in the soil increases. This can lead to rotting of the bulbs. In autumn, to protect from precipitation, the plants are covered with plastic wrap. It is harvested after the arrival of autumn frosts.

To prevent the bulbs from being exposed to low temperatures, the soil is covered with mulch. It can be from natural materials: peat, coniferous litter, dry foliage. Periodically, such mulch needs to be replenished, since it is food for arthropods.

For the prevention and treatment of fungal diseases, plants are treated with fungicides in spring. For OT hybrids, soil with the addition of sand and coniferous litter is more suitable, for LA hybrids - loamy soil.
